For privacy? Maybe some people are using the counters as intended and using them as a way of seeing where their hits come from etc etc rather than doing anything possible to get as high hits as possible. Other end of the scale is also possible, people may not want to show how crap their hits are :P

And people tend to bring photocopiers when they visit the "top ranking" shops...

Perhaps because I feel like they're directed at me since my hits are usually high and because I DO do 1 NP sales. The thing is, I have done 1 NP sales long long before Dmitri ever started the counters so the reason I do them certainly has nothing to do with "doing anything possible to get as high hits as possible" I do them as a way of advertising, it brings exposure to my shop and my mall members shops. Often times during sales, people tell me that they've purchased other things as well or that they've bookmarked mine or a mall members shops. Seeing as how I do little on Neo besides stocking, I do them when I'm wiz banned. I don't typically lose NP's since the items I sell are usually items I've sniped. And, me doing them makes other people happy and helps them out as well. I enjoy that.

Not targetted at any one person actually, if you are going to read it as such maybe you feel it is true for yourself. Not anything wrong with using them in that way even if it is true. I myself currently come under crap hits excuse, my shops a mess, it's embaressing how low my hits currently are 0:-) Although my boyfriend keeps telling me I should not care if my hits are crap anyway so long as my sales aren't. So yeah, cloaking is good, as hits shouldnt matter this much anyway.

Someone asked a question and someone else answered it, I don't see how that could "irritate you beyond belief". It seems to me like you are ashamed of your 1 np sales and high hits; why else would you mention them here, trying to "protect" them? I might be wrong, and if so please do tell me, but seriously, don't read into it too much. And by the way, don't try to convince me there aren't people out there trying every trick in the book to get as high hits as possible.

Well, I stated why I felt it was directed at me. I agree people do do that to get as high of hits as possible, I was saying the comment bugged me because I have done them long before I had a counter in my shop :) As for the over interpretation, this same comment by different people has been said numerous times in different threads. This is the first time I responded to it. Perhaps if the comment said some people do it for this reason it wouldn't have bothered me. But the way it's been stated over and over, is that is the ONLY reason people do 1 NP sales, and it's simply not true. To me making a board that you're doing a 1 NP sale is a heck of alot more honest way to advertise than all the people saying they're having a "huge sale" and they're still overpriced. :) EDIT: Also, it wasn't an answer to a question, the question was why would people hide themselves ;) Ignore me, I'm just grumbly today

Well i'm grumbily everyday so err 0:-) Many other people, not just you, run 1np sales, many of which do only do it as a way to raise the hits. I agree on the "huge sale" thing I must say. Thats why i've always avoided doing that myself. It only gets haters posting on the board anyway! I've even been tempted to do 1np sales before, but it just seems so pointless to me, not to mention the risk involved of people reporting you for scamming because THEY don't pay attention to what they are clicking and mis click buy or whatever. Finally, my comment was a reply to why to cloak. I think it explained really well how some people would not want to be visible, for any reason. You may choose to be yourself one day, just to avoid people slating your method of malling, as an example.
