Pretend or not, as long as I look at a User Lookup and the gender says female, and also refers to oneself as a wife, I will refer to a person as female. The same would be true is the person identifies as a male. I live in a liberal state and work at an EXTREMELY liberal college and I have learned that when a person identifies as a certain gender it is disrespectful to refer to them otherwise.

Well, where I live it's disrespectful to ignore humor provided by others. I would agree with you if it was obvious Pip is suffering from all this joking - which it obviously is - but seeing as she doesn't I instead suggest you try to see the fun in it.
