I dunno, maybe I am immature but...if I look something up on the ssw and find that the cheapest on there is one of the people who are really psycho about their shop hits I buy from the next cheapest person. I'm all "oh no, you're not getting so much as one tiny hit from me"

yep, i sure will. 10-100np means little to me in the face of not buying from people who i find annoying. there are also shops and malls i won't buy from because their banners are cumbersome or they have music and blinky blinky crazy scrolly stuff.
plus, i intentionally don't buy from the lowest SSW all the time. sometimes I only buy from the people in my regular wiz group who have a certain item lower than me. so it's not like it's entirely bizzare behaviour.

Fair enough. :) I guess there are times I buy from shops other than the cheapest as well, now that I think about it.
Dmitri, do we REALLY even need the top shops list? It seems like it might just lead to more drama in the future. I wouldn't give up my counter or the info it provides for anything, but do we really need to see how we compare to everyone else?
I really like the top shops list, even though I've only been near the top once that I remember. I hope that it doesn't go away.
I just think it's helpful to see how you compare to other shops, within your own mall, category or size. Obviously hits do not equal sales but I still like seeing it and find it informative.
I don't really have anything to say about the 1np sales topic though. I'm not even sure why I read it since I'm tired of hearing about 1np sales. ... OK, I lied, I could imagine doing them as a way to be nice and to create a positive image for yourself, but really have no desire to try them myself.
*cough* I am kind of a jerk and don't buy from any mallers because I'd rather give my nps to the smaller shopkeepers,unless I'm desperate to snipe and on a faerie quest xD

That not being a jerk, you are helping the numerous mini shops of Neopia ;). The bigger malls get plenty of sales anyways :p Actually, I [i]always[/i] buy from my own mall if I need something (unless I am stocking of course) or if my mall mate doesn't have what I am looking for then I use the SW. I don't know, to me it is just so convenient and helps my mall mates, so why not? They (usually) aren't crazy over priced either so it isn't that bad.
And maybe we could have the same thing done with certain categories as we do with mall members. We just need to search for a certain phrase or whatever to see how the other categories are measuring up. I agree that the Top Shops does seem to cause a bit of drama.

From my point of view, I love seeing people try to get as many hits as possible on their counters. It just makes me smile and think...wow what a waste of time!..Theres some shops out there, that I notice have more items on SSW then not- and I dont understand how they make enough profit too want too keep restocking their shop throughout the day.
Personally, I dont even care what my count is :P I just use my counter too see what my hits actually come from.
To me: Profit>>>>Hits.
Id much prefer profit over how many hits I get :) Waste of time in my opinion...bumping a board every 30 seconds, and restocking all the items that are lowest on SSW. Just stupid :P But if it actually helps you gain profit- congrats :P Ill just continue too sleep and do other things the 3 hours you spend stocking your shop!

So true on the ssw pricing thing :P Even when my shops stocked to the max, on a very popular day the most wiz hits i've ever had is around 70 and I thought that crap loads (there are very few items I even deliberately wiz price)
I spend over 3 hours a day stocking currently though :O As i'm so poor i'm literally recycling my neopoints, something sells, I go replace almost instantly with that item or a different one!
I've always wondered how people can manage such heavily wiz priced shops too verses how much they must make from it, I guess people who go down that route put what they enjoy doing before profit.
