Considering Closig Shop
My shop sales are so bad--I am ready to give up and close shop. Since all I really do is my store--that means the end to Neopets for me. My sales have been steadily decreasing over the past couple months. You would think that being part of a MM mall would help--and it does, but not as I had expected. I receive half of my hits from SW, 1/4 from mall and the rest mixed. Am I doing something wrong, or have sales slumped across the boards.

Sorry for the double post--just an example--today I have about 18k in sales. I think my prices are way to good for such low sales. Books! Reasonable Prices!! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=kermat13&misc

What is your spot? And sales should go up around christmas time. However, they will drop another bit within 2-3 weeks since midterms are coming up. This year is probably the worst in terms of mall performance, each year it's been like that lol. I think mall is more of a working-together benefit rather than profits.

You should switch categories. Books aren't too good.

My sales are half of what they used to be in the summer, so don't feel bad. I looked at your shop and as an ex-bookseller I can see your prices are pretty good. Try lowering prices 50 to 100 np for cheap stuff (while still making a profit) and hope that shoppers stick around and buy/bookmark. Good luck!

Sometimes trying your hardest still doesn't work if you aren't compatible with your category or mall. If you feel very content with both but are still lackluster with sales and unhappy with the game because of this, maybe someone else could offer better advice than me. I checked out your shop, and I think a personal shop banner would fit it nicely (just my opinion). I'm more than happy to make you one if you're interested. - Kara

Hey there Kermat. A bit ago, I sold Toys and I remember you stocked in all the faerie quest items at some point. If your shop is still priced the same as it was then, I'd be surprised that you don't get as many sales. I used your shop and about 2-3 others to stock my shop at that time. Sorry to hear you are having such a downfall in sales =(

Maybe adding a small 2nd category could double your sales.

Oh, that's a bummer. By quitting, you would just throw away all of your hard work from getting to main market to stocking your shop. Such a waste, I could have used an extra 20M... Just kidding. But seriously, I hope you don't quit for good. Perhaps a break would be better?
WOW! Selling: Maps, Neggs, Stamps, Coins, Cards, ETC! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=1434sweet#p

You put some much effort into it. Don't do it, just lower some of your prices to get more people in. The weekdays are slow, but the weekends are good. All the kids are back in school, I am. The only time they can get on is on weekends.

I'm really sorry that your sales haven't been as good. I know what you're feeling. My sales are about 75% to 85% less then what I made in April/May. It's partly the time of the year, partly that Neo just isn't retaining users, or avid ones anyway. Without people playing, there's no one to buy stuff. Since malling is your life on Neo (as most of us here) what if you tried switching to another category? It would take work, but maybe it would inject some new energy for you. If you still want to sell books, I would suggest just fiddling with your prices a little. Maybe lower them slightly for the first page items and the under 1k items. I commend you for reaching the size you have. It is an accomplishment. I just think the dynamics of malling are changing as Neo changes and focuses on other things. I do hope malls find a way to survive, though. I find it to be one of the most interesting activities I have ever done on Neo.
