Portal freezes on startup

Portal freezes on startup
Just joking Dmitri ;) but since I have your attention... (a) Sometimes when I open the portal it freezes on the loading page at "checking for updates". Any suggestions on how to fix this? Windows Vista, Chromes browser, don't know what else you might need to know. Thanks very much :)

Board Locked. Please do not adv.... just joking ;) Portal Main screen -> settings -> uncheck ENABLE UPDATE CHECK that should bypass the check

Hey Dmitri - but how do I disable the checking for updates if I can't ever get passed that point in order to disable it, if you know what I mean? It's hangs at checking for updates -every- time for me. Every time. Windows XP, Newest Version of Firefox, don't think you'd need to know anything else...

I'm having the same problem as Brandy. I downloaded the portal updates today, changed updates to false, and restarted my computer. But, the portal is still stuck on loading. I have Vista-English, and the latest version of FF. Any idea on how I can fix it?
