Switching Categories... to Petpets?
Hi ;) I'm thinking of switching categories to Petpets & Supplies. I'm currently Clothing/Grooming & Fire/Air Faerie, but it's alot to keep up with for me, having to keep multiples of each Fire/Air Faerie quest item. Petpets & Supplies is a category that I've never done before, and would need advice on. Has anyone been petpets & supplies before? Is anyone currently stocking it? Some questions: -How much (average) does it cost to start off stocking? -About how many pages would be filled with stock? -What size shop (minimum) should you have to be able to hold all of the stock? Thanks for the help!! :D

It's a big category and expensive one too. I've been stocking it since I began malling and I've never had all the items stocked. Ever. If you're looking for something less time consuming, it's not the category for you. I'm in love with the category because they are just so cute, they sell well and you are never fully stocked. And there is so much you can do with it. :D

There are quite a few expensive petpets, but you don't need to stock all of them starting out. The category is still a pretty pricy one though. I have 6 pages of stock. :P I don't think I'm ever going to get all the items I want to stock. :P I think there's around 200 buyable petpets out there (or more). Though you'll probably also stock petpet lab maps, petpet supplies, and petpet pbs. There's also a few painted petpets that you should stock. I also stock some items that are petpet-related, but you don't need these and most don't sell well either. You can have a decent petpet shop at size 100, but if you want to get multiples of popular items and still have a great variety, then it's better if you have a larger shop size. I really want to stock now... but I should be working on a paper. And I'm watching "long orange dress" inflate and try to figure out when I want to sell the ones I bought.

the items sell so fast that you either have to stock a lot daily or you have to have lots of multiple items. 10M or better to get the shop well stocked in the beginning. That is for pretty basic stock. To have more that are painted takes a lot more NP.

I've done petpets for a few years now, and have in the past made a lot of NP from it... at the moment, my profits aren't the greatest. Might have something to do with the time of the year, and I also just switched malls, so that might have something to do with it too. But overall, I've found it to be a fun category to stock. It's scary since I now not only know all of the Neopet names, but also all the petpet names, which is a *tad* too much, haha. But they're fun to look at, cute, and there's a fair number of them that aren't very expensive but that sell well, such as Duocorns and Altachucks. To answer your questions: 1. I don't remember, but it's not cheap. Even when I've filled up my stock I've spent 5-6mil easy. 2. If you're stocking just plain coloured petpets, the petpet lab map, petpet paint brushes and petpetpets, you'll be able to fill about 5.5 pages of stock. If you want to stock coloured petpets, you can obviously have a few more pages, but in my opinion, coloured petpets don't sell to well and make your shop look disorganized as there's lots of the same petpet but in different colours on different pages... I would advise against it. 3. I don't know. 6 pages of stock at 80 items per page = 480 items. You'll need maybe three of each petpet (depending on the price of the petpet it can be less or more, of course), so 1440 total. Divided by five = 288. So if my calculations are right, you'll be able to stock pretty much all you need around size 300... I personally have 1928 items stocked right now, if you're wondering. Anyway, good luck! :)!

It's fun (for some people anyway) to search Jellyneo and find all the buyable petpets to stock. I had an absolute ball spending 5 million on just cheap pets. I slowly added more that are higher priced, and one day when I'm bored I'm going to sink another million or so buying some higher priced ones and multiples. Not to mention all the cheap petpet themed toys. I stocked about 80 items the other day just looking through one shop and buying all the petpet junk for 50np each.
