few questions (relatively new)
Hey I recently got into actively running a shop (currently size 75) selling plushies exclusively. I try to keep my shop completely filled with a variety of cheap plushies to ones running in the 20k+ range. I have a few questions regarding what i should do next. 1. Will increasing shop size improve sales? (and how much do i need to upgrade) 2. When should i start carrying very expensive stock? (i sometimes see good deals on rare plushies but afraid they wont sell) 3. I am part of a mall but that doesn't seem to improve my sales much, is that normal? Any advice you pros can give will be appreciated! Thanks

Hiya! I just recently got into a mall myself, and have had an extra 10 people a day from the mall. Hut Other Mall Petpages Shop Wiz NB Misc Today: 0 3 2 0 25 0 0 Yesterday: 0 11 11 0 29 0 2 When I'm RSing I ussually take note of people with large shops and in large malls and where they are on the SSW. If they have an item in for, say 47k, I'll put the item in for 46k. So, that same item I'll only buy if it's under 35k. With things over 15k, it takes time to sell. **Statistics - Overview - 14/03/2010 to 03/04/2010 (15 Days) 344 items have sold for a total of 1,148,087 NP You have spent 627,551 NP This is a profit of 520,536 NP (82.95%) Also, I try to stock training with my Wearables. (Faeries, codestones and scratchcards) I sell out of codestones within minutes. My shop size is currently 101, I don't see an increase too much in sales, but I'm not fully stocked. http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=taintedkrys84

1. If you upgrade enough to get in main marketplace, then yes, it will improve sales greatly. But there is little difference between a size 100 shop and 200 shop, other than the fact that the size 200 shop can hold more stock. For now, you want to upgrade so you can stock a wide variety of items and multiples of popular ones. 2. If it's a very good deal, then buy it and sell it below wiz price. It will bring more people to your shop and you'll be making profit too. :P They will sell eventually if they're priced below SW. 3. Yup. Most mini malls don't have many customers because they can't get exposure. Large malls have their shops displayed in the marketplace and some participate in 4mil ads. :P Petpet Paradise http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=mizleah

I started with exclusively plushies too :) Definitely growing your shop size will bring more traffic, but also finding an active mini mall will help bring in more customers. You will not be raking in millions, but you will notice a few more np trickle in. Best of luck. :)
thanks, so i shouldnt expect more traffic when upgrading my shop unless i reach the marketplace?
You'll get more traffic from the SW because you'll have more items appearing there, and you might be able to join a better mall. You can also get more returning customers if you have better stock. So yes, you probably will be getting more traffic. But it wouldn't be a super dramatic change. I am sorry to hear that you limited yourself to Plushies exclusively you actually will do better if you can take over the toy industry totally, this often includes Gifts and also Insruments when joining a mall as most do not have them as categories and I sell quite a few items from all the categories. So I suggest a little more variety and increase size on weekends this usually pays for the upgrade at least, remember that sales have been low due to the lower numbers of neo players so invite your friends to participate too! I hope this helps, my shop is a mess right now but you may want to peak in Suz --------------------- Best Priced Malls Toys, Plushies, Usuki's, Paintbrush's, Job Coupons, & Morphing Potions http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=suzierainbow

I chose to limit myself to plushies because i personally think it looks better. I would stock instruments but i can't find any reason why anyone would buy it. What's the market for toys and such?

What's the market for toys and such?
You could say the same for the more expensive plushies that you say you stock too though - why buy those when you can buy a cheap plushie for 20NP? It's mainly going to be collectors and questers. They do sell though. Toys & Usukis used to be my category (without plushies) and my sales were always reasonable. I find advertising on the Neoboards helps when your shop is a smaller size too. You get a few visitors in and, with any luck, a couple of them may bookmark you. I have a few regulars now and it really helps with sales.
