Any Advice??
Hi there! I just started malling a few weeks ago. My friend and I started up the smallest mall EVER, probably in the history of malls. Our largest shop is size 77, and our lowest is size 20. Any tips? I'm having a hard time making ANY profit (which makes it hard to upgrade my shop). My category is Food, and I try to price just above the shop wiz. Am I doing something wrong? (Other than the fact that none of us can afford a good NB slot, or are in a hut in the marketplace *unsure*) Thanks! (and sorry in advance if this sounds really n00b-ish. I honestly don't know what else to do. I've read every guide I could find, but none were super helpful about starting up a mall.)

It takes people a bit of time to respond. My shop isn't too sucessful and I'm not currently in a mall (since I'm clearing my SDB out, only 10k more items to go *lol*) so any advice I could give probably wouldn't be of any use (may even make things worse) SDB Clearout http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=starr_2525

[font=verdana]The problem with no profit could either be you're overpricing too much and not receiving sales.. or you're pricing at SW and restock from users' shops resulting in no profit. I would up the prices on some items and lower the prices on others. Foods is a category that requires lots of restocking and items that aren't overpriced ridiculously. Advertising on the neoboards gets you hits and occasional sales and it's free. You could try it. The amount of exposure you get from your mall depends on how much exposure the other shops are getting, and until you get "marketplace big" (Island or Main), it's not going to be much. Being part of a mall is always fun (well to me at least) but at your size don't expect much profit from it. If you want more customers, I'll agree with what has been stated above: try advertising your shop on the Shop Ads board. I'd also suggest stocking a few more valuable items as the higher the prices, the more they tend to fluctuate. Sometimes you can be at the top of your shop wizard bracket while still making a good profit, keep an eye out on that as well. You could also try your hand at main shop restocking, I hear there's good money to be made from the food shop if you know what you're buying. As for the mall itself, just make sure your members are pricing reasonably (marking everything up too much won't get them any shop views or sales) and staying active. Malling is all about team-work ^.^ ..::Cerbie's Collectables::.. http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=cerberus_neo

At this point, you and your friend's shops will not benefit from a mall at all. I would put the idea on hold and focus on upgrading and wiz pricing for now. The larger your shop, the more items it can hold. The more items you can hold, the more you can wiz price, and the more hits & sales you'll be able to get. It's very difficult to earn enough profit from malling to upgrade unless your marketplace-size, so I'd suggest finding alternate ways of making NP right now. You shouldn't be pricing just above wiz. You should be pricing AT wiz to get hits, and also pricing some items way over wiz for more profit. :P Also, you won't be able to earn the NB ad fees back with only a hundred or two items in stock. Don't even worry about that yet.
