I think the reason they are looking to make a Neo MMO may be BECAUSE Neo is earning them a good chunk of money - but at the same time that chunk is declining at a pretty good clip. Like Kodak film sales a few years back ;) So what is the next logical thing to do? Enter the new MMO market with an already developed universe, and startup fanbase included. They may even continue NeoClassic after it is released, though in what form support would be, who knows. At the same time, they may also offer up certain things to Neo players to entice them on BOTH ends. Premium users are allowed to Beta Test the new MMO for instance? Suddenly the number of Premium users on Neo jumps, more revenue for the site (unless it is diverted to the new MMO), AND you have a slew of Beta testers who are already familiar with your universe! Win win? Now, something I know that WON'T happen, even though it would be AWESOME, is any sort of transfer of your old pets to the new world. Sorry folks. The games will be similar, but there will be too many losses in direct translations, and the entire economy of the game NEEDS to start from scratch, it can't start with a pre-established millionaire class (which makes me sad with how much time I've spent on Zixianna, which pales to MANY others!) So it's not all doom and gloom. Maybe I'm just being optimistic? Maybe there is no Neo MMO and I'm just reading too much into the job postings! Maybe they're just hiring more people for Petpet Park, who knows? I suppose I COULD ask. BUT, it DID specifically say on one of the job postings - 'Experience with the Neopets games and property a definite plus, mention on your cover letter'. Makes me want to apply, how about you?
