Adds New Zealand to my prayer list.

I can remember a minor tremor when we were holidaying on the South Island several years ago.
A beautiful country.

I have several friends, including my best friend there.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12533549 has a video of the centre of Christchurch

Evoked memories of being there.
A lovely city ..

If you really want to see good first hand news of it, search for #eqnz on twitter.

This one was so much stronger than the sept 4th one. So many folks here w/o power & water, my house phone is still down. I have cable internet, though.

My crappy little flat has come through all three major quakes like a little champ. Just wish the water would stay in my tanks, though.

The media downplayed fatalities at first -- I heard rumors of many bodies covered in blankets downtown.

This video is of where I would have been, if my old office wasn't condemned after the boxing day earthquake: http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/videos/4689646/Aftermath-of-Christchurch-quake

I'm counting myself as very lucky that today was my day off. I would've probably been heading out of the office for lunch when it hit, like everyone else was downtown.

It's pure and utter devastation across the city, physically and emotionally right now.

Thank God nothing happened to you Gwennie. If only the other 60+ or so victims were also as lucky. Sad

The sepember 4th earthquake had around 150 after shocks after that earthquake. Since this earthquake was bigger more destruction is to come unfortunately.
