New to malling, need some advice.
Hey guys, I am really really considering getting into malling. My shop size is 22, and I tend to RS in 4 and 58. Should I mall in these, or something else? I have always thought about doing a BD shop. Which do you guys think would make more profit? What size should I make my goal size for my shop? Any other advise is very welcome. I need to know as much as I can before I go into this with both feet =P. Thanks for any help =D

Here's my perception on this: 1)Have a general shop first. 2)Buy any items cheaper than it is through auctions, trades, and from non-player-character shops. 3)Sell those items with SW value. 4) Once you have enough money, you can upgrade, restock, upgrade restock. I've picked a "Genera Store" first because you do not want to limit your sales from having only a few BD items. You have to think beyond that to actually get enough profits to waste millions and millions of neopoints. Once you have reached size 200, you can join a respected mall that do advertisements and it is then that you switch your general store to a more specific store of your liking (e.g. Books & Foods are the most sellable categories). I hope that helped! You're in for a surprise. Your wish has just been granted! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=1434sweet Do you need more shop sales? You should try aiming for Haunted Marketplace for now :) (size 265, give or take) and from them on, you can aim for Main Marketplace (size 560+? not completely sure.. but around there). the bigger the shop, the better. http://www.neopets.com/www.neopets/~bugsy_lenny http://www.neopets.com/~_scritchy_ http://www.neopets.com/~aisha_aishaNo1 Some good guides. Hope that helps :D

Yeah, that is what I have been doing. Do you think I would make enough NPs from upgrading my shop to 200 right away or should I do it slowly?

Main market is usually the shop size goal, so... 580+ shop size is the ultimate goal, but set smaller ones for now so you don't get discouraged. If you're already restocking in clothing and stamps I'd pick one of those to build your shop. Simply because you make more profit from items you RS then shop wiz stocking, and the BD shops are tough. Either way, build your shop around something you enjoy so it doesn't seem to be a "job", and you're not stuck in one category until you join a mall - so feel free to go wild.

[quote=TCSybert]Yeah, that is what I have been doing. If you upgrade to size 200 right now, you wouldn't be shown in any marketplace, and it would be difficult to get all that NP back.

And at the same time use the resources of auctions and trading post by buying items from those to increase your sales also. Keep in mind that it takes a lot of effort to upgrade especially if you want to upgrade in higher shop sizes. Only few shop survivors will last... You're in for a surprise. Well, at the moment I am making about 100k a night from clothing and I am also picking up some off stamps and I plan to try my hand at books too. I may try foods as well, but I figured they wouldn't sell much since everyone I know uses the neolodge to feed their pets lol.

But people just don't buy foods because they need to feed their pets. Most of the time, people with money buy foods because they need it for their gallery, they need it for a quest or just because they can. These happens often and is a result of incredible sales because of it. Once you become an established maller, you'll know the real profits from people in need of any items because it is required for them to buy it. You're in for a surprise. Users who buy food from malls are looking for cute looking foods, or they simply haven't found the Neolodge or the freebies around the site :p
