My daughter is 2 and we go on youtube together everyday and go over all of the school house rocks together, lol. She loves Conjunction Junction the best, haha
That is my favourite one of them all!! I was born too late for them to actually be aired on television, but my parents bought the entire set. I love them. I wish there were things like that in between shows instead of stupid commercials that do absolutely nothing, but ensure mindless entertainment. Although I'm not much of a fan of mindless entertainment on TV. Most of the channels I watch are History, all the Discovery Channels and Nat'l Geographic. I know at my school social studies and sciences were treated as mostly equals to math and English. But I agree with the statement that most schools ( and governments ) are putting too heavy an emphasis on English and Mathematics. It kind of bugs me, especially since those are my least two favourite subjects in school...
I have to agree, my daughter came home Friday & she was the ONLY one in her class that knew who the the Senator was. She also said someone said Obama was the Texas Senator!!! That is really sad in my opinion. She is in the 8th grade

During my elementary years, no one watched School Rock :O
It was only until 8th grade that I watched "I'm Just A Bill".
But, english and math definitely do take up the majority of elementary,
although by 8th grade, you should have some general knowledge about the social sciences o_O
So, am I wrong in saying that if they started airing School House Rock again, kids would be a little more informed? I'm helping my niece with her paper for school about the government (U.S.) and every time I suggest something, she tells me "we haven't learned that". How could you not know anything about your own government by 5th grade? What the heck are they learning in school? Geez, by 5th grade I could tell you all kids of random congressional information about bills, committee meetings, elections, history, and such. I feel for the future, lol
Sorry for the randomness, but my xanax has kicked in, lol.
I don't know ANYTHING about my own goverment. And i'm already in year 6.
My school hasen't taught us about the goverment yet.
