well how it works is... each file or database contains 200 items. If you add all kinds of details to those items, that particular file apparently fills up and when it does, it cant hold anything anymore until a new one is created and a new one isnt created until 200 items is reached so if it fills up at 198, two items will screw up. I thought 200 would be a good number to split the item database... but apparently its not The new database system used by the customer thing is unlimited though. Two files - one which holds the items, and another, which holds the data Kinda confusing but yeah, that;s the system that i came up with (i'm sure there are better ways to handle it, but unfortunately, I'm not aware of them =/ )

Most likely not. Unlike the customer thing, the shop stock is accessed from your sales history, the item database, and the shop front so I would need to change every single one of them to the new format and that might take quite a bit but who knows. (Last time I tried to take a shortcut and used CTRL+F and replace, it blew up - surprise surprise)

I dont know. It should probably work though (under a new profile) I still dont get why that limit got reached though

I've been having the same problem when trying to add new items. I started having the problem when I updated to the new program but that might just be coincidence. Should I just take it as a sign not to add in new items for the time being?

I don't think it's the new portal because I've been adding new items with the new portal.

Yeah, both versions of the portal use the same system. Anyways I'm slowly converting it to the customer profile system which should fix this issue. Unless of course you have 32,767+ different items and using windows 95 or 98, you should be fine.
