Temps, I saw somewhere on another topic about how it might be better to have the more unique stock rather than the same items that are in every other store of your category. So maybe you should try the more cool looking items that cost a little more. Not only will the customer be interested but they are more than likely unfamiliar with the "normal" price of that item (think about it, if you go into a shop and see Doughnuts, Eyeshadow, Dung, ect. for 1k and it's like the first few rows or page of stock, you might assume that the rest of the items are just as overpriced), so if you overprice the lesser known item a little more than normal they wouldn't know (unless they go in and sw everything in your shop)
Oh what a mistake this was! I tried taking out the generic every-food-shop-has-it stock on my first page as an experiment last night! My average shop till is around 100K -- Monday night was 200K -- I took all those items off my first page and my shop till was 3,744 points! I had NO IDEA it would make THAT much of a difference! WOW! Can y'all believe that? ~ Mimi (Please read my Guest Book: Requesting Guide Help) _____________________________________________________ Mimi's Ménagerie: Healthy Tastes Good Here! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons
Looking for the MSPP lend please contact me for collateral details:) Hmm... have you tried continuing that? I'm curious because it seems like a lot of people agree that it is better to have a unique stock. I don't know what I am going to do.

(I have promised my kids a million neopoints each and I've gotten used to my daily interest and nice cushion.) I will use those neopoints to revamp page one for sure because I don't know who doesn't want to be more profitable! You can't make much profit on milk and apple juice, LOL! I have been thinking of creating a thread to get some feedback on stock for my shop. I am so funny about the way my shop looks. One reason I ADORE mall shops is because they look so clean and organized. I am a general store so I could and would like to have more cards, books, petpets, etc. but in rows that look nice (kind of like the Neopets General Store but I don't have the luxury of the separators like they do http://www.neopets.com/generalstore.phtml). I have 6 achyfi's just because they look so nice...same with the potions. I want my shop to look like a gallery. I know I spend more when a shop looks nice and organized. ~ Mimi (Please read my Guest Book: Requesting Guide Help) _____________________________________________________ Mimi's Ménagerie: Healthy Tastes Good Here! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons

You CAN find a food spot open don't give up hope. I was in a lot of really crappy malls literally like 5 or 6 when I first started, but then I got on the waitlist and was eventually accepted to where I am today. It doesn't hurt to mail some of the bigger malls and ask to be on a waitlist, they like to keep all their spots full :)

Sorry my advice seemed not to be helpful *unsure* Perhaps maybe making the transition away from the everyday items a little more gradual might help? And keeping some of those more common items would probably be alright. But I don't know, as my first advice was definitly a fail.

Instead I have started sending people to page 3 of my shop from the NeoBoards (just started today) so that they don't see that page first. We'll see if it makes a difference in overall sales and what stock sells. I will try this again, and yes I will gradually move away from it. I will keep the top sellers and weed out the rest. I have to realize that I need to focus on what sells instead of what I think makes my shop look neat and orderly. I like having all the milks together even though Low Fat Milk isn't a big seller...for an example. ~ Mimi (Please read my Guest Book: Requesting Guide Help) _____________________________________________________ Mimi's Ménagerie: Healthy Tastes Good Here! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons

I have been afraid of mall jumping because somewhere in my psyche I think all the mall leaders are friends and they won't want me in their mall if I switch around a lot. I am really intimidated by malls I have been looking at because of all the neopoint "requirements". I feel that I may not be able to upgrade, keep stocked, and pay for NB Ad with my profits. I know others struggle with this because I've read their comments about it. I definitely don't want to turn a fun hobby into something stressful. I know no mall can really REQUIRE anything per TNT rules but their Mall Rules don't reflect ANY leniency. That being said, I though I may have to switch to a different category to sell more. My profit margin is good, it's just volume that I need help with (which is why I want to join a mall, duh!). ~ Mimi (Please read my Guest Book: Requesting Guide Help) _____________________________________________________ Mimi's Ménagerie: Healthy Tastes Good Here! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons
