Spooky Market to Mystery Island - is it worth it?

I need your advice. I just took a big profit in the stock market and wondered if it is really worth it to upgrade from Spooky Marketplace to Mystery Island Huts? Right now, I'm the very top shop in my hut (Spooky Marketplace, #380 - bottom right corner, 3rd tomb from the right). To upgrade to the top of the lowest Marketplace shop would cost me about 3.3 million np. (from size 274 to size 329). I just won 2.3 million, so it would still be a stretch and leave me nothing to stock the extra spaces. Would upgrading this much really make a jump in my shop sales? I normally keep 10-11 pages stocked, and lately I've been pretty broke doing that, so this would take all my extra np - and then some. I normally get about 70 hits a day (zero from hut, almost all from wiz) and only sell 20-50 items a day right now. What do you all think? Of course, I want to be main market one day, but I'm not sure if this is the right time to make this particular jump... Is it worth it?

Playful I would like to recommend since you mentioned getting all your hits from shop wiz and not your hut that yes you look to upgrade. I tried looking up your user name on neopets to look at your shop but could not find you under user name playful. Wanted to look at your pricing. You mentioned being broke after stocking...what are you using for a mark up? Since you are visible in a hut you can use higher pricing and not price all your items to be shop wiz prices. Also with raising your profits a bit, it will slow things down but when things sell it will give you more left over after stocking. During my time in Island Marketplace, I felt it was the better between spooky and island. Reason I had behind is that island is an actual place that you can click on. Haunted is only words, even with the remake:(

Oh, hi, bsmith! :) My user name is Lolooma, and my shop link is in my siggy, below. I didn't know you couldn't click on Spooky huts. I guess that would make a big difference. Do most people get traffic from their hut? My shop prices are low to midrange, I think. All the quest books are marked up 1k each, which is high, but I don't care. It's not worth it to me to restock them all the time. The quest books rarely sell (maybe 1-2 per day). The other books that are cheapos (like 3-5k and under) are marked up 600-700 np each (which is probably highish), but the more expensive books I only buy when I can price them lowest on SuperWiz (or 2nd lowest) and still make a profit of 1k or up. Like if SuperWiz has them all 12k and above, but one of them is at 10k, I'll buy that one and price it 11,991, making me lowest but still profit of 2k. Anyway, the more expensive books are probably what people are searching for, and I sell about 3/4 of my sales those. I try to make at least 1k profit on each item (other than the cheapos). My largest profit items are actually weapons and morphing potions, which I restock several times a day. I used to have a weapons shop, so that's why I do that. I sell about half weapons and half books. I will probably move out of the books category if weapons opens up, but I'm not sure yet. Books is a new category for me, so I'm still getting used to it. At my current profit level, I think it would take me about 3 months to pay for this upgrade. If it helps my sales, though, it could pay for itself much faster. ;) Thanks so much for your advice! well you need to put &banner at the end of links in your hut in order for the counter to know where the hits are from! =P so that would probably be why you dont have any hits from there! anddd but i dont really know about if you should change marketplaces or not! D: hehe im not in anyy marketplace so i have no idea. =( just thought i would let you know about the links! =P

Overall I don't really think it will be worth it to spend all your nps upgrading to the Island Marketplace because it still shouldn't make much a difference.

If your upgrade allows you to move into a bigger mall, it could be worth it. You will see a difference in hits when moving to a mall with bigger shops making it overall worth it. :)

seanaf - about what size shops would you say you'd notice a difference? The mall I'm in now has shops mostly sized 200 - 250. The mall I hope to move to soon has shops mostly sized 300 - 400. You would see a difference since most of those shops should be in the MI Marketplace. Moving to a MI mall would increase your traffic since many more newbies shop their. It is just if you don't move to a bigger mall but upgrade and that's it, you won't see a difference. But if you look at it in the long run, more sales means more profits and getting to MM faster.

Shop size is one thing. But graphics is another. You'll actually do worse if you move to a mall with poorer graphics, despite larger shop sizes. This is especially true at the spooky/island level where the hut differences are minimal.

It should be commonsense that you do not join a mall with poor graphics. That is one thing you should always consider.
