Why do people feel the need to spam?

Seriously, spamming someone with shit like this isnt gonna make them get whatever they're begging for.

I know you are venting, and I do sympathize with your frustration, but I might know a valid answer if it's not a rhetorical question. :) I actually did this once by accident. No, not to you (I don't think - LOL! :P ). I was changing shop categories and so had priced all my items BELOW the lowest SSW price and I thought that it would be a win-win situation both for me (get rid of old category items) and any large restockers (find a bunch of snipes in one place), so I neomailed a bunch of larger shops that sold my (former) category to tell them about it. While I was doing that (cutting and pasting my message in) I realized too late (by someone's angry letter :P ) that some of these shop owners advertised in more than one banner. I had not been keeping note of the shop owner's names, I was just clicking on the banners, so I wasn't aware of the duplicates, and that was when I was too new to malling to know that some people advertised more than once. It was an honest mistake to neomail them more than once. Since I was reading down the notice board and doing RL tasks on the side, yes, the neomails would have been sent a little while apart. Neomailing more than once is ok. 3 neomails is pushing but 7?? There's absolutely no reason to send 7 messages. I dont know why people think you're going do something for them by pissing them off. This applies to telemarketing in real life too. They think by pissing me off, i'd buy their crappy product that's probably a scam anyways

About 99.9% of the time, spammers only spam for the heck of annoying. Nothing more nothing less. But it seems like that person put a bit more thought into that neomail so perhaps there could be an explanation? Could mail them back telling them that they sent it 7 times. I know what you mean about the telemarketers though. I switched phone companies and now the old one calls me at least twice every single day. Yes, Sundays too. I've told them no but they don't understand! IT'S SO ANNOYING. They could offer me free service and I'd probably say no just because they're so annoying. Well, maybe...:P

You gotta take some D-meantree actions. I keep meaning to do that new Don't Phone Me thing now available here in Canada. Even though it's the just the stupid phone company that calls me. I've told them that the person they're looking for doesn't live here anymore but they keep calling. It's like they're watching me. :(

Apparently that doesnt work based on what people are saying. And yeah, i get tons of stuff like that. Mail too. Most of them are credit card balances of ridiculous amounts. I'm sure they all ran back to india with the money lol

The do not call thing in Canada doesn't work, as it only applies to Canadian companies, the real bad ones call from the US or India, so the calls don't stop at all. Working for a company that relied on telemarketing for some of it's business, the call restrictions have hurt us and caused us to lay off people and shut down some aspects of business, thus not helping the economy. Our company was very proper about calling, no meant no and don't call me was taken seriously.

I had one person calling for the same guy over and over. It wasn't until I flipped out and told her where to go that she stopped calling. I don't like being mean to them because they're real people too, just doing their job, but this one lady kept calling every day for the same guy, who I have NO idea who it is. They must have given them my number. *headdesk* I wish they'd listen when you say "wrong number" or "please don't call again."

Another good trick for telemarketers is getting a 2yr old to answer the phone for you. My son has just started answering the phone and strangely enough they hang up on him!
