I read the entire Twilight series before it got big. Now that the movies are all out, I'm not so into them anymore (tbh they're kinda lame XD). Petpet Paradise http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=mizleah

I haven't sifted through the thread yet to see if someone talked about the books I'm listing, but here goes (btw great idea Kirsty, though I'm a little late getting on the bandwagon). I read A Confederacy of Dunces a couple weeks back - really really really cool book, I'd recommend it to anyone! It's super funny and ends PERFECTLY. Apparently it's the funniest book ever written? According to some comedians. Well, that's what I was told by a couple friends who insisted I read it. I also read the first two Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) books in probably four days combined :P. They're extremely easy reads, but addictive :K. While also being frustrating. They're ridiculous: "Oh no, this person really close to me died a gruesome death that I saw with my own eyes." Next day: "Let's have sex with my vampire boyfriend because of course realistically having someone I love die just puts me right in the mood." "Oh no, I almost got my brains ripped out and my life is in danger... but I can't help being soooo turned on." It's just absurd, not believable at all... too much sex, to the point where it gets boring and annoying. It's not "special" anymore when you read the same thing being explained in slightly different ways. But at the same time, the True Blood books are definitely, quality-wise, a step up from Twilight (and a step down from Anne Rice). Not to mention that Meyer ripped off the True Blood series hardcore :P. But I can't help being addicted to vampire books, gahhh! Am reading The Glass Castle, you know, the bestselling memoir, right now. It's a quick read, you wanna just keep reading it. I was afraid it'd be depressing, but it's not. And it's written in a really fun style too. Loving it so far.

The book I just finished is a vampire book of a different nature if you wanted to check it out. It's a bit drawn out in places, but yeah. Here is some basic info about it "The Historian is the 2005 debut novel of American author Elizabeth Kostova. The plot blends the history and folklore of Vlad ?epe? and his fictional equivalent Count Dracula." "The Historian has been described as a combination of genres, including Gothic novel, adventure novel, detective fiction, travelogue, postmodern historical novel, epistolary epic, and historical thriller. Kostova was intent on writing a serious work of literature and saw herself as an inheritor of the Victorian style. Although based in part on Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Historian is not a horror novel, but rather an eerie tale." "The Historian interweaves the history and folklore of Vlad ?epe?, a 15th-century prince of Wallachia known as "Vlad the Impaler", and his fictional equivalent Count Dracula together with the story of Paul, a professor; his 16-year-old daughter; and their quest for Vlad's tomb. The novel ties together three separate narratives using letters and oral accounts: that of Paul's mentor in the 1930s, that of Paul in the 1950s, and that of the narrator herself in the 1970s. The tale is told primarily from the perspective of Paul's daughter, who is never named." ___________ Kirsty aka "the sensitive one" Silverdragon siggy stealer Tasty tent seller

I watched True Blood after I read Twilight, but I know True Blood was written first. And I couldnt BELIEVE how much Meyer ripped off from it!!! Human girl falls for vampire boy. Her best friend is a shape shifter and in love with her. Both series have people who can read minds (but in true blood its the girl). I was shocked when I watched it! But True Blood is GREAT. Now you made me want to read the books :)
Wearable Clothing for your pets! www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=_jaspeh_&misc 4mil Independent Ads http://www.neopets.com/~SicalliaRomeo

I read The Historian a while ago and liked it overall. I thought it was done well with the letters and flashbacks but I guess did get boring in parts. And I never read Twilight but I do like True Blood and the Sookie Stackhouse books that it's based on. I am usually anti-spoiler so had planned to only read the first book after season 1 was over, but I couldn't stop myself and read all 7 that were out at the time. :P They change the show up enough that you're not completely spoiled, even if you've read all the books. And the minor characters are really fleshed out from how they appear in the books, so there's always something new with them too. I started to read the Wheel of Time series because it's one of my friend's favorite series of books, but haven't been reading at all since I got my not-so-new-anymore puppy.

Actually I am happy to admit that I enjoyed Twilight and also the first movie. I found it to be a sweet page turner. I don't read much romance, but I liked this one. What I really like is John Wyndham books, especially The Day of the Triffids. (Don't watch the movie!) And other sci fi/fantasy books. Also George Orwell - 1984 and stuff like that. I also Love Bryce Courtney, absolutely everything that I have read of his so far. (The Potato Factory, Power of One...) I hate crime novels and horror! At the moment however, I am reading The Seamstress. I only just started. I'll let you know how it goes...
