Do you allow mall members to take more than one category?
I never have, but I know a LOT of malls do... I would like to allow them to stock more than one. Especially the hard to fill positions. If they're willing to handle both, and their shop is big enough to handle both, I may consider. Basically, I'm just wondering how you do that to keep things fair? Oh, and I don't mean the malls that allow all shops to stock a certain category. I mean actually having two spots on the mall banner.

I think certain smaller categories can mix fairly well, like neggs, maps, MPs & PBs, luck, etc. Taking on two large categories, such as food and books for example, would end up being messy, regardless of shop size. I tend to pick up more than one myself when dealing with a small category as I like having lots and lots of pages in stock. However, I wouldn't do this in a main market mall as the idea is to get a maximum of exposure by filling each category with a different shop and thus covering various huts. ..::Neggs, Toys & Plushies::.. http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=cerberus_neo

Everyone in my mall has 3 buttons linking to their shop. Each one could be a category on its own but wouldn't be strong enough. For example cards stamps coins belong to one person. Its possible to split it to three people but profit would be too low and people wouldn't be happy. Also it doesn't make sense to give two quests spots to one person, like books and toys or something. However the air and fire faerie are an exception since grooming and clothing mixes together. The main selling point of a mall is to make it easy for people to find stuff they want to buy. If someone is doing two big categories it could be 5-6 pages before you can get to the item you want. On the other hand if its categories like training, maps and paintbrushes they only take a page or two so its ok to mix those together. I hope that helps.

Yeah, it helps a bit. My mall has a size 100 requirement, so allowing someone to take on Paint Brushes, Morphing Potions, Neggs, and Job coupons may not be a bad idea.

People do it, but i'd rather be in a mall that had separate people for the categories because then there's more exposure. That's just my opinion.

I personally like how my mall does it to where some categories are grouped together. I don't see how anyone would just be satisfied with just stocking training items - there are so little of the item that there it isn't hindering anyone to stick it luck/map with it. And just like paint brushes and morphing potions - 2 different categories but they group nicely together as well. Of course with larger categories the mall keeps them separate because we don't want things to look like a mess. http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=evilbluemunkeyz

Change the banner so that they only get one spot but the banner button reflects the categories they are doing. - - - - - x - - - - - x - - - - - x - - - - - x - - - - - My user lookup - vw1282 http://www.neopets.com/userlookup.phtml?user=vw1282 Check out my (toy) shop and gallery while you're there!

Unfortunately Paint Brushes, Morphing Potions, Neggs, and Job Coupons aren't going to fit on one button *lol* And yeah, I group Training, Maps, and Luck together. That's recent. Training used to be its own category, but it just wasn't getting us a filler.

If categories just make sense together, then I'll let them combine them, and eventually change it on the banner. *shrugs* ------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~ Come visit my map shop ~~

I have more than one category. I am the largest shop in my Mall, AND I pay for 2 spots in our Mall's ad. Personally, I love being both spots. If someone came along who wanted one of the spots, I'd probably give it up - like if things get busy this summer. But for now, it works for my mall. One other person has 2 spots, too -- and their categories go well together (and they're always stocked).

We (Manhattan) charges extra fees to keep it fair - so someone has training and luck, he pays double. I think, like others here, that some categories can do it and others maybe not. The books, for example, is so big I can't fit the ones I have in my size 103 shop, I am pushing always to upgrade. But training is limited items... and also, I think faerie spots should be taken by the related field, but the 'owner' of the mall doesn't agree.
