, they rarely know that they are here...well, until they walk in the house and 208 lb. Tucker walks in the room...lol
Haha yes that would be quite the give-away wouldn't it.. That's a big dog..

Aw, everyone's dogs are so cute! My sister just got a new puppy a few days ago, and our other dog, who's about 11 years old is not too pleased since he's a huge baby and all the attention is going to the puppy. :( Has anyone else brought a puppy into a house with an old dog? How was it at first? In the end?

How was it at first? In the end?
When you have a senior dog like that, it's not unusual for them to be intolerant of the pup's roughhousing. On the other hand, some dogs are very good about putting the pup in their place and correcting them, but others are downright intolerant. How do they interact? Always supervise them together obviously but if the older dog starts to get tired of the pup, I would separate them or distract the pup. As far as attention, the resident dog should be getting MORE attention than the new-comer. This will help the resident dog associate the new pup with positive experiences. The pup needs to learn her place and not be spoiled too much ;) Just base it off how they interact. Some dogs never get along with certain dogs, some seem to be attached at the hip. Also, dogs don't get "jealous" like people may think. It's not an emotion in the dog world. If you are petting the puppy, and the other dog comes up to be pet, it's not because she is jealous, it's simply because she wants to be pet too. :D Here is a link to a sticky in a forum I am active in: http://www.pitbullforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=10229
