So, I love stocking food. I really do. But I don't seem to be making much profit from it. I know I don't have too much variety but I don't know... I am thinking maybe petpets is where it's at haha. Could I sell both or would that be too sloppy? Suggestions? Comments? Insults? (Ok, don't insult me :P) I am lost in my shopkeeping here people! :P Any input is appreciated :D
Should I change categories?

Here's the thing: Stock what you love. You're not in a mall, according to your profile, so if you want to experiment with petpets, too, go for it. I sell food, too, and I love it. My sales have been really slow the last week. I've gotten about half the visitors I usually get. And I don't understand this since my prices are really good (about 25 nps higher than lowest on wiz). I sell about 425 different items at the time and sell multiples of popular items. I advertise every day. I also did just switch malls, but I don't think that's a factor. I know I need to change my specials of the week, but after I see how my weekend sales go, I am going to reassess my stock and see if there are other things that I can add to my stock.
I hope you figure it out. :) Hang in there, fellow foodie.

I completely understand there has been a few days this past week where I only made 20k :( I wonder what can I do to increase sales. I do clothing/grooming thou. I do stock clothes that are wearable but not others since we got a wearable/background store in the mall.
My opinion thou is to stock what you like to stock! :)

There are far too many petpet sellers as it is... I think food/wearables/clothing is the place as I got told that:
People always need food and people like wearbles to dress up their pets... But what is someone going to do with more than 1-4 petpets...
[EDIT] Im glad you are facing a lack of sales! Because i am too and i thought that was down to just there being too many petpet sellers xD!
I think it has something to do with people going back to school from easter break... ;/

If you want to experiment then go for it :) I'm not sure where you got the idea petpets is where it's at though. I know of quite a few petpet shops and they are all really slow in sales compared to other categories. If you are looking at profits, try paint or wearables or perhaps furniture.

Find what you love and stock it. Summer is right around the corner and sales will pick up. :)

Thanks for the replies everyone :D I am still not sure what I want to stock though...I wish we could have 2 shops haha! I will think about it today...because I would love to do petpets too! I just got the idea that they bring in more of a profit generally than food. We'll see...I'll put my thinking cap on. :)
