Neo's are UNENCRYPTED? Seriously? Could they simply solve this by encrypting???

It's plain and simple neopets needs to beef up their security or the site is going to slowly fail. I didn't realize that neo was being used to steal people's identities though.

If this doesn't make neopets wake up and smell the coffee - nothing will. If they do not do something soon to fix their problems with security - I am going to quit - this is just too scary and no game is worth losing my identity over.

I knew a guy who built (and builds) neopets "tools" but actually he would just steal people's pass... And he met several of his kind aswell and they were just bored young people with too much time/info on their hands, not .. "real" thieves... (and I want to state here I am NOT announcing it as a good thing I still think he was a loser but I always thought interesting to have the info on what they target and what they don't as to protect myself lol)

I think, D tell me if I'm wrong, that CGers are stealing all the info on your computer and then there are other programs that can actually record what you type in and send it to the person who stole your cookies. So -- they steal your cookie from the bank, you log into your bank account and it sends the info you typed in to the CGer. There was a news story a while back about limewire. While you were there it allowed people to steal info off your hard drive. Turbo Tax files (copies of your tax returns) were the most hit through this since all of your family's social security numbers are on those. The bottom line -- do not use IE! Download and use all those suggestions on the CGs/XSS thread! This isn't a neopets issue -- it's an internet issue! _____________________________________________________ ~ Mimi's Ménagerie Avatars ~ http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons&misc

I read the same article on FOX news. My understanding was the the problem was only part on neopets. It stated that thru neomail a link was sent promising you could create a paint brush without having to spend all those neopoints. It was when someone when to the off site link and clicked the piece that the malicious software was getting to the computers. So yes there is a problem on neopets that someone can send these neomails to anyone. But the attack was happening off site. Just remember any suspicious emails you get, report them immediately. This can help them crack down!

People who STILL dont listen and use internet explorer... well they can take the consequences. No offence though. Maybe $1000 in credit card fraud might get them off their ass. Or not.
IE shouldn't have that many problems. Honestly they have so much money they could afford to fix the bugs=O
Yeah, but there was a report on the Yahoo news that people can get in through a "back door loop hole" and get into your bank account, Myspace, basically any site you log into, through IE because they have MAJOR bugs and issues. Seriously, I *had* to stop using IE because my computer (a windows 98 at the time) no longer supported the newest version and the old version wouldn't work, and I'm *so* glad I did. Besides, didn't Bill Gates have to file bankruptcy?
