Yeah some people puzzle me. There was one person who read my "What's the heck with people sending the same message multiple times" thread on kiln. And then proceeded to make 5 spam boards one after the other. ...and EXPECT me to affiliate with their new site that is pretty much the same as NeoMallers. That's like saying: F*** off. Can i be your friend?

Some interesting feedback. The way I am looking at this is that while this is not an original concept, it is an original work. We note that on the topic of style, Dmitri offers a number of premade graphics in a similar style to those of this mall, this one is admittedly much closer to the ones his mall uses (that said, it does not violate neopets rules). I also note that this banner has (and will have) very few effects on Dmitri and his mall. It does not cast them in a negative light, and it makes no claims that my shop is one of theirs. This distinguishes between what is an imitation and what is plagarism. If there are some specific changes you, Dmitri, would like to discuss, PM me please. Edited for poor word choice.

You added the same effects in the same areas. Placed the black content areas in the same areas, etc The only part that differs is the actual wording and banner by YOURNAME is on the left side

I did, however, when making my banner take steps to avoid placing the content in the same areas as the ones that I saw from your mall, in particular the food banner (I did not, though, look through all of your banners). I also note that the content layout used in most of these cases is a pretty standard one for promotional banners; a title at the top, followed by a subtitle then some variety of mapping and information below followed by a "Click Here to..." space at the bottom. I also went through lengths to keep the banner within the scope of my mall by adjusting the colour schemes of all images I chose.

The special effects, for example are almost identical. Plus black isnt the only color to achieve a sleek look. This site for example uses a blue-white scheme and still achieves that look. But at least you had the guts to make a board... unlike the other 29458282 who just lift my content word for word, line by line, and every bit of css without even changing the values P.S. and they arent chris_mcdonald noobs either. they are size 1000+ mallers.

Suggest some alternatives and I'll be happy to try them out though (I did run a couple of other schemes through, namely a lighted one which I didn't find nearly as aesthetically pleasing).

I would still take the banner down, because 1) Dmitri is quite obviously not pleased with how similar they are to his, and 2) out of respect for his work. Even though you didn't copy it word for word, it is still stealing his ideas. Plus if everyone made banners "similar" to Dmitris, Dmitris banners would no longer be unique.
