Okay, I'm still working on what information I need to be getting. Here is the new revised list:
Category:
Shop Size:
Mall?:
Marketplace?:
Time of Year:
Length of Time Selling Category:
Pages of Stock:
Had a Guide?:
Restocking Method:
How often you restock(ed) and how long it took:
Other Positive Notes:
Negative Notes:
Anything else we should know:
Whew, that is a lot, but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end. Anyways, I'm heading off to bed. If you think there is anything else I need to ask, feel free to post. (: I'll give it another day or two and then I'll get to work on contacting people.
P.S. Do you think I should outright ask about Profits? I wouldn't be too specific with it but I don't know where to draw the line of privacy. And profits are a very important thing when deciding a category.
When it comes to profits, you might consider asking only for percentages. Or average markups. That way good for nothing scammers won't target certain people.
So I would tell you that my average profits were 33% but no one will know if I make 33000np a day or 330000np or some other number.
You might want to include if they post NB ads, and if they have a hut as well.
Yikes! Your list is getting longer, but if you can manage it will be an awesome and comprehensive guide:)
I think that's a good list.
I think you could put things like period of time and profit under positive/negative notes as guidelines for what people can write there. That way, it is up to the person posting how specific they want to be about their profits. If a seller has had their spot for a longer period of time, they can explain how they do sales-wise at different times of the year. I think profits also tie in to time of year, and since both require more explanation, they can go in the notes.
i love it robyn! i'd be more than happy to voice my opinion on all the categories i've done - grooming/clothing, wearables/backgrounds, candy/sweets, faerie items, and neggs/training. let me know when you're ready to start receiving info =)
I'd be happy to contribute too :) great idea.

... in return, you should have something to give back. One idea is to input their shop's url link after their comments so at least, they could get some hits from it.
You're right, I should probably link to them. Not only for extra exposure but the people who will use the page will probably want to see the shop in action. The only problem is that for those that will do more than one (because they've sold something different in the past or switch categories). If someone was looking Collectable shops and picked one that *used* to sell collectables but now does training, it probably won't help either of them. Hopefully you get that lol, I'm terrible at explaining things. I'll try to figure up something to get people linked without the confusion. Maybe a little note on what the shop sells now or only link after the category the shop currently sells. I'll have to check it every so often but it shouldn't be too bad.

Oh, no. I didn't mean that you should organize your neopet's page on their current category. I meant that you could link to their shop after their comments. For instance, you could organize each and every person's comment in a table form, where each table is designated for one person's comment about their shop. Here's an example:

I think you should just link the person's username to their lookup since it is about the user's experience more than their shop and that way no one is thinking they are going to any category. Also, I suggest putting it in table format instead of the way sweet had it because paragraphs would make finding the info hard to find. In a table you can look through the list to see the largest shop, etc. -- Also do not alphabetize the user names -- I'd have the person with the largest shop at the top. Just leave it that way as you update it so you don't have to move people around constantly when their shop size grows or whatever.
