500 above SW is a convenience cost -- no typical player pays that for every item in a shop... unless you are a main mall shop. I make 50K profit plus (100K+ shop till) a day and don't price 500 above SW. I do restock 4 times a day though because my shop is so small.
100% is the cost of the item x2

[quote=temps_bons]I just looked at your shop and it is lovely! You have all the right stock and the prices are not completely crazy. Although some of them are high -- any item that you have in your shop that costs less than 300 nps, I would change the price to 1,000 unless it is a hot seller. (Atleast until your sales pick up) If you want some traffic do what I did today: this isn't my idea, killercars5000 gave me this advice, a 1 np sale.
I cleaned out my SDB today and sold items that are 100-200 nps for 1 np. I made an ad on the neoboards, shop ads and newbies, and just kept restocking while they shopped. I made sure the items were spread throughout my shop so they would have to take the time to look through my stock. I sold all of the 1np items but also sold several other items. No one will buy anything if they don't even visit your shop or see you on sw/ssw so doing this will: 1) get them in there and 2) clean out your SDB and 3) hopefully be enough nps to save for the next uprading spree or the nb ads in the summer. I agree that I'd hold off on advertizing whenever sales were this slow.
Here's what I put in my ad and I got a ton of hits:
TOPIC TITLE: *clap*Shop Size 103 SDB Sale*clap*
Safety Deposit Box Spring Cleaning SALE
I have a 4 page shop
1 NP deals on every page
Selling 100 items at 1 NP
Look through the shop to find 1 NP deals.
Many items valued 100 - 400 NPs!
Keep refreshing, I'm adding stock as you buy!
Hope these suggestions help!

I was having the same problem as Pip. I just tried this ( except I made the sale last about 20 minutes, adding 1np item sin at random times) and got like 120 hits to my shop AND I had someone come into my shop and spend 80k (the most I've ever had *lol*)not to mention 30k that other people spent. So to this method I say DEFINETLY (? spelling) try it!
100% margin means pricing at double what you pay for it - 2X SSW price. This is the rule I generally use, although I have a number of junk items that I sell at around 1000 because I want to track those sales. They still sell well at that price and they are almost pure profit.
In the past, friends who have used SW/SSW pricing to get traffic haven't found that SW shoppers buy anything else except the item priced at SW. If you think about the way you shop - when you search for something, do you then hang around in the shop and buy other stuff? THe only time I do this is when the original item was a snipe and I notice other underpriced items that I can sell on for a quick profit.
Each to their own I guess, but I just can't be bothered doing all that restocking (and taking up all that shop space) and only making minimal profit from those sales.

*high five*
I am thrilled to hear it!!! See, it isn't your shop it's getting people into your shop! Keep up the good work and whenever you need a boost you know what to do!

There's nothing wrong with your shop. Its just that there is a lack of shoppers because of exams and end of school year. You really have to be competive if you want to make a sale. You need to be a slight cheaper on your items because your shop size is not big enough. my sales are actually very strong and higher then ever.
Blah had a 1 NP sale and got over 300 hits, with only 16k profit
Oh well better than nothing
Sometime when I stop being lazy I'll go through and re-price everything for 100% profit :P

Okay, I'm new to this forum - how are people finding Pip's store? Is there a trick I missed? There is no shop link in her post and I don't know her user name on Neo. Can anyone tell me how we find this info?
Pip, if it's any consolation, my sales have been down for about the last 2 months. People have said it's the time of year. I didn't have a shop this time last year, so I can only trust that they are right. I started my shop in the fall and the sales were much better fall and winter than they have been since about February. My sales literally dropped by about 10 fold after February. I am looking forward to increased sales this summer! :)
