Okay, so I have the newest version of the portal dled, and I'm on XP pro, using firefox 3.5.2
I was updating my shop front, got to the end submitted and got the following error:
UpdateItem Error! The update sequence for item [Black Bearog] was halted because the program tried to write empty values for this entry. Portal will now close to prevent damaage to the database
In case I'd copied something wrong I restarted it and went through the process again, and still same error. HALP!
Cheers,
Arden

[KB#03 - Portal Sample]
Can you please provide a sample of what you're pasting into portal?
To do this, first copy your shop front into neomallers portal as normal. Then when the text is pasted into portal, instead of clicking process, re-select that by pressing CTRL+A and CTRL+C, then paste it into this forum window
Also, is this a new empty database or a pre-existing database with data?

existing database, been using it for nearly 2 years didn't have the problem until today, can't remember if I've posted the shop front succesfully since updating to the newest version, but I think probably not since it's been only 2 days, and I'm a lazy pants :P

like so?
eta: it sure sounds like it's connected to the new dataguard thing. I know the black bearog is something I've never sold nor do I have in stock, or have a price for it, so might that have something to do with it? also it has a stock value of -1 for some reason. But then there are items that come earlier in the alphabet that I believe have the exact same thing problems.

well that DB guard thing comes up with the portal tries write 0 for everything, which shouldnt be happening since the bearog has a mall price. Something is not being pasted right but i gotta look into it later since i have a early class tommorow and i need to hit the sack so i can actually wake up at that time lol

ugh, early classes. How I don't miss them. The joys of doing correspondence courses :P
Anyways, I'll play around submitting different things, see if can narrow the problem down at all :P

erm, well I thought i'd solved it, because there were a couple of items with -1 in stock, and they're gone, but now items with just plain old 0 are coming up problems :K so far still though all items I've never actually had in stock nor have any prices for, just 0s all around. I've tried pasting different pages of my shop to see if that changes it, but no, it doesn't matter. Grargh... so no problem solving afterall... maybe I should sleep now too :P
eta: okay, this is getting silly, it's clearly all the items with 0s for all the values, so it is the dataguard afterall, it's just that it's not the portal having written over any real data, it's just that they never had values to begin with in any of the fields :P ah well, I'm going to manually delete them, since they're all painted petpets I don't carry anyhow atm
I'm sure I'll update yet again if I find that they're still problems after having gotten rid of all the known problem entries
Cheers,
Arden
LAST EDIT (I PROMISE!): Removing all the ones with values of 0 worked like a charm! Now I can sleep like a baby :P Hope this at least helps if someone else comes accross the same errors in the future :D
