Maritimers tend to have an accent, especially Newfoundlanders. Maybe they are the ones that say abOOt instead of abOUt? I've never encountered anyone who pronounces it that way though. I say "eh" all the time... "I know, eh?" and the like. The same way in French (in Quebec anyway) I'd use "là" something like "Tu sais, là, que...". Sorta "I gotta, like, eat breakfast, and then like, brush my teeth like.". Doesn't really mean anything. And then french people speaking English and vice versa you'd generally hear an accent. I remember my father's girlfriend was trying to speak English and can't make the "th" sound so in heavy french accent said "I have to brush my teats" (teeth). Lol. There are people who speak both languages without any accent in either whatsoever though.
Around here sometimes you have to give people some time to reply. We chat, but our conversations tend to be more spread out over a period of time. ;)
I have run into the "aboot" with my friends in Windsor, but it really isn't the "oo" sound its more like "aboat" Its all in the way you listen to it I suppose. The ou just isn't as hard as an American would have pronouncing it as "ow". I would say there is most definitely an accent, just as their are within different regions of the US, or any where else for that matter. Sometimes it might not be a noticeable accent, its just small variations in the vowel sounds.
I'm quite familiar with the rate in which these chats go about...but thanks anyway hun. I suppose you're right about the accents. Location, Location, Location. So, what else is there to talk about? I am quite board... :D That's a good play on words.......

and quite a fail of spelling :P "bored" ;)
While I see there being no problem with this topic, it's tough since you don't have anything particular to talk about. Whenever i've been bored and just need something to chat about i've made random topics too. You could always go reading, we have some really fun topics floating around that you could always post on and revive.
By all means keep posting here... just try coming up with topics to post about ;)
I have never really listened to anyone from Canada speak so...

I sound like a redneck *unsure* I try not too, but the southern drawl breaks through sometimes. I'm from Mississippi, but I least I don't sound like I'm from Arkansas :D
