Splitting up the Wearables Category - good or bad idea?
I'm finding myself all kinds of overwhelmed and I'd let my shop stock slide a great deal over the last month. It might just be that it's Christmas time and I'm busy in real life and things will be back to normal for me come January - but I doubt it. I really think that the category has gotten to be too big. I used to keep a steady 13+ pages of Wearables in stock, but it got insane for a while. I find that around 9 pages sounds to be the most reasonable...but I don't know that I can do the category justice at nine pages. I'm thinking of splitting the category into "Wearable Clothing" and then "Backgrounds and Trinkets" with Accessories (hats, purses) being shared between the two categories. People who've done this - did you find that it hurt your sales? Or did you find that it improved your sales because it made dealing with your stock that much easier for you?

Are reg clothing & grooming included as part of the 13 pages? I see a lot of malls that split clothing/grooming & wearables/backgrounds if that would be an option

No, regular clothing and grooming are not included in those 13 pages. For quite some time I was doing -only- the Wearables and someone else had the clothing/grooming/fire/air faerie category - but that person left due to college insanity and lack of time so I picked up the Quest items (I only carry those, I refuse to carry any other non-wearable items). I -am- eager to get rid of the quest items, as I find they are a gigantic pain to stock (for me). They sell well - really well. But they hurt the Wearables sales and I think make my shop ugly.

I stock ALL wearables, and I can only keep 1 page...LOL.. Most prolly because I'm always cheap on wiz.. but recently I upped my prices a few hundred to limit my sales. And I think it's a GREAT idea... because yes WEARABLES IS A HUGE CATEGORY... So maybe buttons like this : Wearable - Clothes Wearable - Accessories / Trinklets Backgrounds _________________________________________________________________________ Please help me support my Wearables SUPER Store! Wearables no. But backgrounds gets a huge hit (in a bad way) so we were forced to link backgrounds across two malls of Xmart. At least for now anyways. --------------------------------------------- Celebrate Xmas at Xmart. Do you think if Backgrounds, Wearable Trinkets, and Accessories was one category and "Wearable Clothing" was another that would still be the case?

It sounds like something worth trying. Backgrounds by itself wasn't very strong when I tried it briefly, so adding trinkets might give it some balance.

I think there's more of demand for backgrounds now too, as well as increasing number of backgrounds being released. So I think it may be a better category than it used to be.

I'll have to talk it over with Chelle and see what she thinks, if she likes the idea I'll probably be keeping the backgrounds/trinkets/accessories for myself - cuz that's the stuff that I find the most fun.
