i think i found my issue.... i have windows 7 home premium not windows 7 professional
Windows 7 starter, windows 7 home premium, windows 7 professional, windows 7 ultimate, it doesnt matter. They all run under the same kernel and install from the same Windows Installation DVD. Only difference is enabled features

Do you have Norton running? I think that's the same error I was getting until I shut off Norton and tried again. I have Windows 7 and it's working fine.

after all three days of trying different things... i decided to go on IE and do it there and for some reason it made a difference, im not really sure why
but anywho i got it to install!
thanks everyone
i got it to install but it wont run it says... "windows is searching for portal.exe. To locate the file yourself, click browse"
any ideas?
sounds like you or your computer deleted the portal.exe file. Reinstall to default location C:\NeoMallers and NOT your TEMP folder

i uninstalled and reinstalled and am getting the same message... i dont believe i am putting anything in a temp folder but i really have no idea what that is
The other option is let me look at things via a program called TeamViewer (google it) Basically it will allow me to see your screen and control basic aspects like the mouse/keyboard

Great when you load it up, you'll see a 9 digit number like XXX XXX XXX and a four digit access code. You'll have to PM that to me so i can take a first hand look

No worries. And actually, the core installation doesnt seem to copy over the portal.exe file for some odd reason. But the updater patch seems to take care of it. Really odd though
