New Scam Through Neomail (Webmail)
So I was having someone create me a banner and she couldn't get the code on her petpage and so she asked for an email and I gave her my webmail one since I know sometimes there are issues with petpages. She then said she got an email warning from Neopets stating that she was asking for personal information and her account was going to be frozen. I figured she meant neomail but when I told her I got nothing she was asking if I had checked my spam folder on neomail. Things started to get fishy and then I received the following email that's in an attachment. You can see the email seems pretty legit because its basic questions they ask when trying to verify your account but I noticed the email and I knew that this wouldn't be sent to my webmail account since I have another email set up as my primary one and either way warnings go through neomail. Plus I just came back from a 2 year hiatus if I was stealing stuff I'd of been frozen awhile ago. But I figured everyone should have a heads up since they're probably targeting "wealthier" accounts and everyone assumes mallers have the most NP out of anyone. I'd post the username of the user that was neomailing me - but I'm not sure if there are any rules about it and I'd rather not get flamed over that.

There are too many grammatical & diction errors for it to be an "official" email in my opinion :O & even if it was legit, I don't think TNT would list things in that fashion. I mean.. in that actual fashion. The way they list their items is odd haha Anyways, thanks for the heads up! :)

*lol* I laughed at wealthier accounts. I spend it as soon as I get it. Books don't come cheap ;) Thanks for the heads up. As for rules, that is interesting. I am only new here but, can we?

Anyone that knows I'm premi has accessed to my email account through them. But yes I know plenty of mallers that spend all their NP as soon as they get it and mostly on upgrades. It's why I don't touch whats in my bank so therefore I don't have urges to do so. http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=evilbluemunkeyz

Yeah I agree with helen. Second sentence grammatical error put me off. Thanks for the heads up. :) _______________________________________________ Bugsy's GUIDE to Effective SHOPKEEPING and MALLING: Version 3: Learn More About Hut Positioning http://www.neopets.com/~bugsy_lenny

It's still a laughable attempt, but it's probably one of the more convincing scam mails I've seen. It's a shame because you can see younger players falling for this kind of thing :( Did you forward the mail to TNT? ------------------------------------------------------- http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=triciaroo

Thanks for the warning. I think that one has been going around for quite a while. I received a similar one a long time ago. Also note that it is being sent from a @gmail.com address, though I think this person(s) changes email as they are caught. And TNT would only send warnings through neomail, and not contact you at your webmail unless that's the one you list when you send in a bug report or something. You can post warnings about scammers, the only one that will probably flame you is the scammer :P

Ahh that's an old one. The grammar error is actually their branding so when people get scammed and go OMG OMG, the scammer can see them posting that message and see how well it's working

But I also saw younger users falling for it as well as some people that might see it, get freaked out because their account is going to be "frozen" and not really look it over. http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=evilbluemunkeyz

You know how I know it's fishy? "Of course these are just accusations, at the moment, and we will need firmer evidence until we can press upon the matters at hand." This is supposedly from the people who freeze now and never ask questions later. They don't give you the benefit of the doubt and aren't so considerate in how they tell you either.
