Alright, so I'm turning 16 next Thursday, and I'm probably thinking of getting an I-Touch or something of the sorts with my birthday money...to replace the one I lost (or was stolen from my locker...) last October *complain*
So I was thinking of just getting a hardcore music player with excellent music and playing quality and such, without all the nifty apps from the I-Touch. Of course, I'll probably be looking to spend $80-130, as opposed to the 200+ multi-purpose I-Touch...
Any opinions and recommendations? I'm actually quite clueless on the topic, though I have heard of some problems with I-Touch and Apple in general. xD
Any brand names, and that kind of advice would help ^^ :*
Best Music Player? ...or just get an I-Touch? -_-

Why get an I-Touch? There isn't much music worth listening to nowadays. Eyerything is autotuned and there is no good down to the heart songwriting. Just my opinion.

Exactly. an iTouch does more than just music :P They just came out with a free VLC media player app, and that plays all my tv shows i've downloaded - perfect for on the bus (A)
One thing about the itouch is.. their operating system (which also affects iphone users, and soon probably ipad users) is really crapped up. Major issue with battery life across the board. The workaround i use is turn on airplane mode when im not using it. Then battery life is excellent. I guess it's just messed up implementation of "persistent wifi" or the multitasking service...
New iOS 4.2 is coming out in a few days. Hope that fixes it (probably not though)
Another thing to note is.. if you get the 8 GB one, you'll find you're filling it up in no time lol. (Im already using 22.9 GB haha. Well granted, there's alot of useless stuff on there but...)
The sound quality is ok now (used to be crap) but if you want quality, go for creative products (specifically those that have x-fi support)

Deemeanntreee I would totally fill it up in like a day x)
The airplane mode thing sounds really cool xD
I just don't know if I'll have the time to use all the nifty apps ...though wifi will definitely be used ;D
And I'm not pro enough to make my own music...worse voice in the world, I guarantee it 0:-) Maybe when the E-touch and the A-Z touch comes out -__-
Thanks for the help! :*
I'll probably do some more asking around and get it this weekend or next...xD

Airplane mode turns off wifi and bluetooth. that's about it :P But it does save battery life...
The apps are darn useful :P. I check the weather, stocks, bus schedules, google maps, to do lists, address books, notepad, email, facebook, msn, read books and of course kill time with the games. (A)
And yeah, the 32 GB one is like $300 though

Yeah I think most "New" music is junk, but there is lots of music I've been able to just find free online to fill my MP3 player (It's only 2Gb, but it's really all I need. I think it was probably $30-$40)

I have a 80Gig Ipod which is good enough for me unless someone can convince me into purchasing something else, as I am not upto date with the new A to Z players or whatever they are, even if they do sound good. Would love to find a site that shows me what these i-touch or e-touch do that makes them special.
