Hey, Desperately_yours I see your name on my sales history All the time. I buy from your shop frequently as well.
Nah...price it up...make a profit. If people buy it for 500np more..than why not?
And isn't the point of Main Market exposure that you can actually charge higher prices? Look around at most of the shops around you - the ones linked with larger shops will be charging 1000-3000 markups!
Customers are paying for the convenience of shopping at a group of reliable and well-stocked shops - that's what malling is about ... yes?
lol well the only other options are to buy it for 500 and sell for the same price, if you have lots of time and find breakeven reselling fun lol or to buy for 500 and sell for less...in which case let me know...ill d like to be a customer :p all in fun desperately-yours
I think the question was if it was ethically wrong. No it is not against the rules but were you asking because your conscience is bothering you? Well, here's the thing: You provide a service and people have a choice of who to buy things from. If you had a monopoly ethics would be in question...but since you aren't the only shop people have to choose from, YOU just have to feel good about what you are doing. It has taken me a while to mark up my prices (more than 100np) because of my conscience so I understand your delimma! The way I justify my prices is that I spend a great deal of time getting the collection of items I have in my shop, pricing them, keeping them stocked and what not so I should be paid for this service in some way.
How do I price my items? I find the best prices on the items I like or that I found super cheap and I sell them for a fair price. Fair is NOT the lowest on SSW/SW! In my mind fair is toward the top of the SSW (SSW is the lowest 20 prices on that item). Why? Because of all the players in Neopia that are selling that item, the middle price range is fair market value. When I go lower than middle of the range it is because I am impatient or I want to get someone in my shop to see the other stuff.. just like a sale in the real world. The other way I price is by trial and error. If I sell out of an item constantly so that none are left in my shop I keep upping the price until I am still selling them but the same buyer isn't buying every single one of them every time I restock (it happens).
So 500 to 1000 maybe is too big a jump for you at the moment so try adding 25NP to everything or better yet 100. That is not a big mark up and many will gladly pay it because your shop is full of beautiful items that are fairly priced (even if you do add another 100 to them!).
