Anyone Computer/Video smart?
I'm ready to throw my computer against the wall in frustration. I have a newer Dell Dimension E521 with yucky Vista. I keep my flash updated as well as my drivers. I have a Nvidia GEForce 7300 Video card and an NEC LCD 1935NXM Monitor. From day one, playing games has been a challenge on it, in both FF & IE. While playing a game, the image seizes, only for a second, but when it starts moving again, of course the image has changed as if it hadn't froze. So on a game like ICM, if I am surrounded by scoops & it seizes, when it unseizes I usually lose a life as the game seemed to play without me seeing it or being able to control it. I don't know if it's a Vista thing, a driver thing or if I am stuck with it. Anyone ever have this happen and know how to solve it?

Have you tried emptying your cache in Fire Fox or temp files in IE? When is the last time you cleaned the inside of the computer? Dust gets in there and can clog the connections/overheat the computer. If the fan is really loud you should look into this. Are you sure it isn't the internet service provider (ISP)? ~ Mimi (Please read my Guest Book: Requesting Guide Help) _____________________________________________________ Mimi's Ménagerie: Healthy Tastes Good Here! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons

Try in a different browser and see if it changes anything - just for the purpose of troubleshooting to see where else you can look to fix the problem. What I mean is that if you are using Firefox and you try it in Internet Explorer and it works fine, then the problem is likely with Firefox. In which case you could try updating Firefox if it's not already updated, and/or update your flash player. Do you know how much memory you have in your computer? I used to have problems with games lagging as well (including ICM so I know what ya mean... really annoying) - but I'm using a completely different computer now so I have no idea what fixed it. I don't have Vista or even XP so I can't really look to that as a possible reason for the lagging.

I don't know what everyone complains about, I love vista :P *huggles*. Anyway... maybe you need some more RAM or a new processor? do you know what you have now?

it could be really dusty, I'll need to go buy canned air to give it a blast. It's no different between IE or FF, but it was ok on my old computer so it's not my ISP. but my old computer would restart if you sneezed near it *lol* I'll have to look at my processor & memory, I thought I maxed it all out when I bought it, but ya never know

I just noticed the "do you shutdown your computer" poll and thought I should add, have you restarted your computer -- turn it off, count to 25 and then turn it back on. So simple but so many don't think to do this! ~ Mimi (Please read my Guest Book: Requesting Guide Help) _____________________________________________________ Mimi's Ménagerie: Healthy Tastes Good Here! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons

vista has a lot of effects and things that can eat up memory. try turning some of those off if you haven't already. i don't have vista here at work, but i think you just right-click on your desktop and then select "personalize" to see what you can change. i do have that problem on my vista laptop at home with one game over on adam & donna's new site, but neo flash games run fine for me.

When I got a new computer, I couldn't get any of the games to play at all. It was a disaster! Then I did some research via Google and learned that the newest version of the Flash player (the version I was using) was not compatible with Vista, or with my browser (Chrome), or something like that. Anyway, I had to completely remove the Flash player and install an older version from the flash website. This fixed it and all the games worked perfectly then! The weird thing is, that when I finally allowed the flash player to update itself (about 2 months later) the games still worked fine, so apparently they fixed the problem in a subsequent update. Just FYI - I know you'll think I'm a complete idiot when I say this, but I'm not completely sure it was the flash player I did this to. It MIGHT have been the java. It was awhile back, so I really don't remember, but I'm pretty sure it was the flash player. Anyway, I'm just telling my story in case it helps you. :)
