You could always experiment and see. :)
I just switched categories a few weeks ago, from Weapons to books. Because of the switch, I still sell a few weapons and so far, I have not had trouble selling two categories which have no relationship. I still restock a few of the more popular weapons and people still come and buy them. Most of the people who buy them are not my former customers, so I know that shop reputation has nothing to do with it. I do price my weapons low, so that is probably why they still move so well. I normally sell almost as many weapons as I do books, even though I only carry less than 10 of them at a time (mall rules). I just restock the weapons more times a day than I do the books. I think the weapons are still my number 1 np maker, even though I'm totally a bookshop now. :P
I don't know if faeries and seasonal would be the same, but I don't know why not. If needed, you could always make a "search by item" page in each category and have a banner ad for that in your shop.
