I have been getting pretty good sales for the last week 150-300k a day... That is pretty good for me. I have been working really hard lately and am sitting on the fence about these 4mil ads. I've done my share of them and haven't seen a lot of profits... Hrmmmm.....

For an nb advert to be worth it you have to see much higher profits on peak day than the cost of the ad. Not sales, but profits. Say you average 400k profit on a regular day. If you are in on an nb advert that costs you 333k your profit on peak day -needs- to be well over 733k for it to be worth it. Anything less than that is a loss and incredibly silly. ~~~ bête noire (bet-NWAHR) noun: An object or person that is particularly disliked or that is to be avoided

My personal opinion on NB ads, is that people tend to overkill them. " I'm going to be in 2 ads, 3 ads, 4 ads, and expect them to do all the work for me". Quite frankly, that's not how it works. Much like running for politics, you need the grassroots aspect. In translation to neopets, the free advertising. You need to go to the shop ads neoboard and advertise. You need to chat on the other boards and make yourself known. It's not all about the NB.
I agree. That's what I've been trying to tell my participants! They complain about bad sales but they haven't done anything but sit on their butts waiting for people to buy their stuff. I, on the other hand, had been getting tremendous sales because I commit to advertise my shop in every way possible via boards, forums, ads, etc. You're in for a surprise. Your wish has just been granted! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=1434sweet Do you need more shop sales? Come participate in a 4 million shop advertisement! Check my neopet's page for more details.
*high fives* :P My biggest pet peeve is lazy mallers. You can't just expect that when you get to a certain size you can do nothing and rake in the NP. You need to do other things. Whether it be advertising on the boards, baiting your shop, wiz pricing a few items, doing some PR work, or whatever. You just can't expect to do nothing and still make NP. That's not how it works. My second pet peeve is mallers that think they're to good to go back to basics. And I just want to clarify, I'm not saying that anyone here is giving me that impresssion. I want to throw that disclaimer out there before I get attacked, lol. But I have seen those mallers with poor attitudes that refuse to put any work into their shops.

You are right though, profit must be over than than the paid advertisement. But the point is, many of those that complain about NB advertisements are the ones that do not do any advertising outside of it. (This is of course, not directed to you. I just quoted it because you mentioned about profits not sales. ) You're in for a surprise. Whew. I thought I was the only one experiencing the problem of low sales and profits. Glad to see that I am not the only one - meaning nothing is terribly wrong with me. LOL. Been thinking it out for days how to get more sales (changing prices, advertising, etc) Sales picked up today however and I'm so happy it did. :P _______________________________________________ Bugsy's GUIDE to Effective SHOPKEEPING and MALLING: Version 3: Learn More About Hut Positioning Edition http://www.neopets.com/~bugsy_lenny
I'm thinking/hoping that it's just a seasonal thing and that the nb will be helpful again once the kiddies are out of school for the summer. I also didn't see much of an increase in sales on the peak day for the nb advert that I'm on. 230k, though? you must have been mortified....considering your category (the same as mine) you should be seeing way more profit than that on a day when you are NOT on an nb advert, so to only get that much profit on peak day would be horrible. ~~~ bête noire (bet-NWAHR) noun: An object or person that is particularly disliked or that is to be avoided
Completely! My average profit is actually higher than that, so it was a crap day full stop! I don't think i'm a lazy maller as such, although I would describe myself as one compared to some of you. Just actually running a mall, and a guild, is a lot of work already. So I do what I find fun with my shop, as neopets is supposed to be fun right? Recently I tried stocking less of each item instead of say 20+ to see whether it makes items look more attractive to buy. Some stuff did indeed sell better, but i'm bored of spending 5 hours a day stocking my shop, so i'm going back to my old bulk stocking ways. It needs to stay about fun for me or I just lose the will power to even try!
