I was really happy that for the program i took math wasn't involved (well, aside from like medical math, but that's just figuring out how many ml of something it takes to get the correct mg dosage, blah blah blah)

School in Canada works a bit different than in the US from what I understand. I went to college, not university, and here when you go to college you are taking a specific program (and you applied to get in for that specific program) and for the most part your courses are chosen for you and the same courses that everybody else in your program is taking, so there is no "declaring" a major. I've been to college 3 times (because I don't know what I want to do with my life. and even though I am 32 I am thinking of going back). I have my DSW (Developmental Services Worker) PSW (Personal Support Worker) and RPN (Registered Practical Nurse). I think next time I study it will be for something where I never ever ever ever ever have to interact with people again. Because people = annoying.

After I get my major, I'm thinking of getting my masters internationally. I plan to be a Nurse Practitioner and therefore I cannot do that here in Canada (we don't have that title here). I heard US have it there so if I was to study there for my masters, is it the same 2-4 years of studying again? I'm asking because you might know a little more than me because you did complete RPN. And you might have thought about this before. Oh, and I heard there is no student loan there? Is that true?

When I first started college (which is considered "university" in Canada), I thought of becoming a nurse nurse practitioner. You have to graduate with a BSN (Bachelor's of Science in Nursing). That's a 4 year program typically. Then you either get a master's (typically 2-3 years) or a PhD (usually 4-5 years). Of course, heavy courseloads and whatnot can speed up your completetion time. We definitely do have student loans. If you attend school here, your financial aid advisor will have you complete the FAFSA, even if you're sure that you won't qualify for federal grants. After that, the school usually uses the information on your FAFSA to work with certain programs/banks to provide loans based on need.

I know nothing about student loans in the US. What I -do- know is that if you get any sort of nursing degree in the US you will -not- be able to use that degree to get a job in Canada or England or really anywhere other than the US. Americans will hire Canadian nurses, but not the other way around.

I don't want to get too personal but since you don't know anything about student loans in the US, there's probably none because its heavily advertised here. In that case, you paid for your own education? (You really don't have to answer this if it is too persona). I'm on a loan right now and if we didn't have that kind of thing here in my country, I wouldn't even be in an university. Anyways, I am getting my nursing degree here in Canada. I'm thinking of getting my masters there or somewhere else. Perhaps France or Germany. France because its free education and I do have French as a third language. Germany because they have a lower grade point average expectation. Sorry if I'm throwing so much information at you, I'm just that kind of person who is all out crazy about my future. And since you have those under your belt (RPN, etc.), you will not be able to work here if you choose to then?

Come to Australia. We have universities here (not colleges like they have in America). There are student loans, which we know as deferred payments, but I believe they're only available to locals. Might be worth checking it out just in case. My focus is on psychology, so I cant help you with any nursing related fields. But our courses mostly have set/core units that must be completed to get the degree, still.. there are a number of slots where you can take any unit at all. They provide a list of suitable/recommended units, but you really can take any other unit; I took some web design units while doing my psych degree, and ended up taking enough creative writing and english units to get me a double major (psych / english). And dealing with people = annoying. Dealing with mentally unstable people = entertaining :P / or maybe I shouldn't say that... // too late.
