I heard a story once of a girl that had a snake and it slept with her in her bed, stretched out next to her. He grew to be very big and eventually stopped eating for a long time and brought him to the vet. They had to put him down because the snake was preparing to eat her!!! That is so disturbing to me. Creeps me right out. I have 2 dogs and a cat. I love them, but I think I've developed allergies to them...

I really want a chameleon, but after reading a few guides they sound like too much work. I also wanted a bearded dragon, I saw some baby ones in the pet shop, they look amazing. But then I realized how big they get, sounds scary D: I think I'm going to give up on lizards or any other animal that requires a lot of care until I leave home and get my own place, then I can be a weirdo sitting around all day in my underpants watching my lizards :D

They have awesome personalities and they can be quite sweet too. I also really like Chinese Water Dragons. *hugs them* So cool to watch. It might not be a bad idea to wait til you get your own place to get the pet you want though, then you have no one to answer to and can get what you want. I got a dog while I still lived with my parents, but I got a breed I didn't really like very much because I was compromising with them. I loved the dog, but I would have been happier waiting to get the type I wanted in the first place. My dog was too active for me and it led to some behavioral problems because I was lazy. (I'm well aware it was my fault.) Sooo.. yeah. -- spooneh! Only the spoon knows what is stirring in the pot. ~Italian Proverb
-- Ninjas versus Pirates is a conspiracy theory to distract us from the real battle between Unicorns and Dragons. Ninjas and Dragons FTW.
Here's a funny story: I woke up in the middle of the night hearing really loud farting and I thought it was my husband. Then there was a horrendous smell so I woke my husband up to get him to stop it *lol*. It was the snake! We had a good laugh about that.
They fart 0_o?

The tail isnt as bad as you'd think either. The original tail is no where near as fat as the replacement that grows back if they had lost their tail. We were SO paranoid of it at first and him dropping it any time we held him but as long as you dont grab it by the tail your fine :D Ours is a pig and goes through crickets like crazy though. That is just about the only downfall the rest is relatively simple as can be.
Thank you both -- we were told to go with a goldfish to start with so we didn't have to run the filter for 2-3 weeks before she gets her other fish. We would have a filter and possibly buy one of those feces eating fish to help. She wants Betas and/or Mollies ultimately I think. I guess we just wanted a small goldfish to dirty up the super clean water -- but if they are that filthy we could just buy the equipment and run it for the recommended time. I thought that was waaay too much water for such a little fish (I am hoping to get fish that stay small (< 3 inches) because we want a lot in a small space for the "screen saver" affect in her room. She has such a hard time going to sleep and reads about 50-100 pgs a night (and she's only 11). Can you tell we have no idea what we're doing? *unsure* Edit -- Tetra was the other fish she wanted in there (perfect size for a 5 gal I think!)
I think the Tetras would be perfect for what you are looking for, they school so it is almost like they are playing and would give a really pretty "screensaver" appearance that you want. When my daughters are done being mad at me for letting the goldfish go to the neighbors pond I might set up a tank with them too. And I am dying laughing over the farting snake. I suppose all living things do it. I just would have never imagined!! My sister and husband had 7 snakes at one point. I will definitely have to ask them about that now! LOL
