Mel, I dont know about you, but when I was stocking books, most of my sales came from the 1st page only. I think I had like 5-6 pages of books? And i think at least half of my sales were from page 1. So I stocked 5x each book on page 1 and 3x of the rest of the books.
If I had continued with books, I would have continued adding new stock all the time and grow in # of pages, but its interesting to think about if its really worth the effort or not
I find that too Mel, that *most* of what I sell comes from the first page :P Sometimes it makes me wonder what would happen if I stocked *only* faerie quest books, would my sales go down that much?? :P

Wow! This is SO the opposite for me! I have a book shop, too, but I almost never sell the books on my first page. The first page is mostly quest books, and I can't price them superwiz low and still make a profit, so I don't try to. They are all marked up 600-1k above what I paid, so they don't show up on superwiz. When I price them lower, I end up just being the restock spot for larger book shops and I spend too much time restocking for almost zero profit. Not worth it. Anyway, the mid-range and more expensive books have enough range in the superwiz prices that I can price them at the lowest and still make a profit. Since almost all my hits come from the wiz, I sell mostly mid-range to expensive books. Most of the books I sell cost around 20k and up, with the 10k to 20k taking the next spot. Even books in the 50k to 75k range sell well. I sell relatively few cheap books, and almost zero quest books - even though I have a lovely search-by-title page for them. I guess when you have a large shop that shows up in the market or hut, you sell more quest books. My shop is not large enough for that yet. (253)
I've wished the opposite - that I could drop all the quest books (which look common and can't be priced competitive) and only stock the more expensive titles. LOL! :P

Wow, it's funny how different we (and our shops) all are :P Yeah, for me, a good portion of my sales are quest books, and most of those are from the front page lol. I do sell a lot of mid price to expensive ( 20k-60k) books, but not as many as the quest books. My quest books aren't wiz priced either, I just wouldn't be able to make a profit if they were, and I just wouldn't want to deal with all the restocking involved if they were wiz priced. As you said, it's not worth it :P
hehe I guess the thought taking out 17 pages of stock, trying, realizing it was better before, putting back in and repricing would be no fun tho :P
Yep, that's just about the only reason I wouldn't give it a try :D
I usually upgrade following an exceptionally great selling day. So I already have the nps in my shop till and I don't feel bad taking out of the bank and losing my daily interest.
OMG! you must be UBER-rich if you are worried about loosing your bank interest. LOL! Mine is like 300 np a day. LOL! *lol* :P
