Funny you should ask ...
As an experiment, I joined a 4-mill ad recently for the first time - I've always relied on hut position and mall links to attract customers before, but we have several smaller shops in the mall and I was looking for another way to generate traffic. Here's the results from 5 days:
2+5+2+5+16= 30 nb hits on 672 hits total all sources
Assuming that every visit resulted in one sale, and 1.8k average markup on each item, that's 54k profit from 180k ad cost.
Guess I won't be doin' that again in any hurry! lol

What category are you? I wish we could see how the user got to our site...like NB Ad to mall shop category XX then clicked on our category from that user's shop. There are probably instances like that that you can't see.
I like that you kept up with the math on it because that is what I am trying to figure out -- how many neopoints should I spend on the ad? Of course if I can get in on one of the 180K ads that would be better to start with than a 300K ad... or is it? Thanks for posting.

I'm in a pretty strong category and hut: Clothes/Wearable Trinkets in Main Market. All our shops are Island Market or better.
For the test run, we monitored the hits that resulted from customers moving from my shop to each of my mall-buddies, figuring an increase in usual traffic would be due to a spillover effect from the ad (using &misc). The relative numbers were so small that we think there was no useful increase to the rest of the mall due to my spot on the ad.

That was pretty interesting while I was making use of it. Since I host my own NB ads, my mall banner, I can see which places the users go to via the server logs. But as my mall/site grew, it's too much of a hassle now. Maybe if i create a separate domain for mall business, perhaps.

As far as the "spillover" thing, I know one of my mall members was on a ad that peaked last Saturday and my mall hits were the highest they've ever been. So..
EWP - don't forget while you are a great category for your shop, your NB cat was a faerie one...I haven't totally discounted the worth of the ad yet - let's see how my garden one goes!
Well I just did my first 4Mil NB Ad the begging of this week. I also am in a mall that does nb fees. So I got more hits a day than norm. Normally without is around 50 hits with the fees I got over 100 to 200 hits a day. Sales are really slow for me right now but I am making a bit more but not much. I think the sales will pick up when everyone is out of school I am hoping.

WOW! That's a good increase in page views! My sales just took a dive too...I have heard summers are better but don't remember last year (I am only 15 month player). It makes sense that more players would be on-line then.
