Okay, if anyone cares to read the stats I put in my original post and comment on it, that would be great! I spent a little time putting that info together but no one is reading it or it isn't clear (not sure which). To be clear the 147K that I made on the NB Ad I participated in is AFTER the ad fee was taken out and OVER MY AVERAGE SALES FOR THE WEEK. The ad brought me 297K more than normal, subtract the 150K I paid for it and you get 147K. Dmitri, I feel your pain! :) _____________________________________________________ ~ Mimi's Ménagerie Avatars ~ http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons&misc

I have NO idea what stats you are even on about. I wasn't commenting about your stats at all, just couldn't be bothered to remove the mass of quote. I was quoting sweet for saying even if making 1np off an ad after covering cost is worth it. Thats what I was disagreeing to!
Final Results of participation in my first 4 MIL Ad: (Avatar Button) 239 Hits from the Ad in 7 days 1,231,035 TOTAL sales (GROSS SALES for the week) + 463,324 TOTAL sales (Total GROSS sales amount more than the average) NOW FOR THE MATH: + 297,478 PROFIT (NET SALES/PROFIT which were more than average) - 150,000 for AD (minus the cost of the ad) = 147,478 more Profit from the Ad Any opinions on these data? _____________________________________________________ ~ Mimi's Ménagerie Avatars ~ http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons&misc
I am still not sure if 147K is good profit or not for a 150K ad. I posted all the data to hopefully avoid the kinds of post I got: "well you have to see how much profit you normally make and subtract the ad cost" -- I did that and the total profit I got from the ad is 147K more than normal (and "profit" by it's very definition is what is after all expenses have been deducted). In other words, I am sure I did the math correctly but wanted to post it so folks would not ask questions instead of giving me their opinion on whether that is a decent amount of sales to come from an ad. Yes 1 np is better than nothing but I'd rather keep the 150K in my bank account than loan it to an Ad if I am only making 1np (which is less than the interest). I think the real problem was the way I phrased the question, "Any opinions on these data?" I should have put, "Is that good for an ad in your experience? How much do you normally get and let me know the button you buy." I hope this doesn't come across as pissy, I'm just trying to be clear about what my question is. _____________________________________________________ ~ Mimi's Ménagerie Avatars ~ http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons&misc

I see :) I didn't even read any of that the first time around if i'm honest 0:-) I resurrected the thread due to my own experiences yesterday. Having top with wearables on a day like that I probably couldn't have made much more, and yet the results weren't exactly sky high. Made me question more how worth it ads are, so I thought id get this back up. As I clicked last post, I of course saw Sweets reply, which is when I then clicked quote and waffled on :P Anyway back to the topic in hand, I actually think you did really well off that ad. I would say you should take part on a weekly basis with them results (providing this becomes the common result). Here is a few other things that you need to include in decision making though. - Back to school, as more kids start heading back to school, the results may end up being different, and so you should probably analyse your results from the ad weekly. - The stats you posted could have just been an odd popular week for sales in your category, so you should take part a few more weeks, note down the data and then average it out to check. - Weeks where the ad doesn't reach top should also be considered, even the best of posters cannot guarantee top, it's a fine line between getting top and falling off too early on a competative day, and of course if the poster snoozes by even a second the ad could end up coming as far down as 4th on its peak day. (That happened to me yesterday when posting and it took me just 2 seconds to post the ad) Whether the ad falls off a day early, or ends up being second, third, or even fourth or more, would of course make a huge difference in the overall profit.

Thank you for the great information! I had no idea that the ad would just disappear sometimes before hitting the top spot. I must say that without the Sunday peak I would have lost out on 130 clicks and the most sales I got from the ad. I will keep participating and evaluating the results. It is difficult to find an avatar button! Luckily my mall sponsors an independent 4 mil ad. Again, thank you so much!! _____________________________________________________ ~ Mimi's Ménagerie Avatars ~ http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons&misc

IMO ~ I agree with what D said. One other comment I have is I see the words "profit" and "sales" being used interchangeably. You really need to subtract all your product cost for "profit". Also, if you are in a high volume shop and you have to spend all your neo time replacing stock it kinda turns into work instead of a game. I like restocking my shop but my time is limited, so...??? Bottom line ~ I participate in an ad.

Gross is equal to total sales while Net is equal to profit which is total sales minus costs (stock & ads in my case). ____________________________________________________ ~ Mimi's Ménagerie Avatars ~ http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons&misc
