MAC users and stocking
Hello all you MAC users. I'm jealous. I want a MAC and am seriously considering it. But I hear you can't use the portal on MACs.... WHAT DO YOU DO? Seriously. Is it bad that not being able to use the neomallers portal may be one of the deciding factors of getting a mac? PS: Dmitri, I change my vote on the online portal thread.... online portal please, so I can get a mac...

Well I don't personally own a Mac but I've used my dad's iMac many times before and I just don't like them :P It was slow, confusing, and ugly *lol* Now that computer is ~3 years old so I'm guessing the newer models are a lot different. But back to the subject. You can always install Wine to a Mac to run portal but it would be kinda sketchy. And no- its not bad that portal is a reason why because most programs do not have a Mac alternative which is why most people would go with a PC ( and the few hundred dollars they still have after choosing PC :P .) P.S. I want an online version of portal too :D

And I also use photoshop for my graphics. That's another dilemma.

I have a Mac and have never had the privilege of the portal. :( Oh, the stories I hear about how it helps one restock and track profits and returning customers. I have my own system that is nowhere near as efficient as the portal but it's the best I can do. Basically, I just use the control F function on my shop history to see how much of an item has sold out and then get the amount needed straight from my SDB. If it's an item I sell a lot, then I usually have more in there. If it's a rarer item that I was lucky enough to restock, I check the shop wiz. I have about 100 items under 1,000 nps. For those, I've basically memorized the basics I always carry. I stockpile these on Half price day or when I feel like restocking from The Neopian shops. Some items I shop wiz as they are cheaper on the wiz than Neopian stores. I sell about 8 of an item at a time, so I order my items by cost and restock from my SDB what's missing. It does take a little longer, but it's what I do. I'm curious to see how other Mac users deal with restocking.

Yes a online portal would be nice. ^.^ I'm on a mac, and although I'm sure my restocking is on a scale of much smaller proportions than y'all, I'm sure we have similar issues. I have a Numbers file I keep that has all the buyable petpets plus their price; and just restock using my sales history... I do like Mac better than PC though. Honestly though, I think I just like OS X Snow Leopard better than Vista. xD The fact that Apple designed both the computer and the software that runs on it, makes it more streamlined than PCs I've had in the past... Plus, (as long as Mac isn't quite as popular as PC), there aren't really any viruses to worry about. :-D

Dmitri, don't tempt me. See, I used to restock without the portal and it was fine. I had my little excel sheet to tell me the items i should have in stock. I wouldn't get profits or something to tell me exactly what wasn't in stock, and the auto-copy-to-clip-board-when-you-click-thing (BEST THING EVER!), but it was great. But now that I use the portal, how am I supposed to go backwards?

I'm on a mac, I use neowishlists. Its a web-based shop history thing, like portal lite, and it'll tell you how much of each item shows up in your sales history. I'd much prefer to be able to use portal. The emulator doesn't let it work and I can get portal open, but I get an activex error. :(
