Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.40

I had an serious infection of Trojans (vundo) that Symantec, Norton, and Windows Defender could not see (and therefore could not remove). I have gotten rid of almost everything with Windows Live OneCare but still have some annoying pop-ups that I have researched only to find they too are malware. I have all of the suggested Add-ons that Dmitri suggested but need another program. I have seen Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.40 as a good program that just so happens to be free and wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this program. I wouldn't mind so much if the pop ups were just the ads I've been seeing but this morning there were semi-porn pictures on the ad so this is now an emergency. Thanks!!

Nexplore and fling.com are the pop-ups I am getting (along with others). The virus or whatever has affected this site and neopets making it impossible for me to edit my posts here, reply most of the time and on Neo I cannot reply to the Shop Boards and my quick stock only works occasionally. Also, it keeps turning off my automatic updates for windows and I cannot even update when I manually turn on the services I need in regedit. Does anyone have any experience with this? _____________________________________________________ ~ Mimi's Ménagerie Avatars ~ http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons&misc

Are you familiar with the site Major Geeks.com? Is it a safe place to download free/shareware? _____________________________________________________ ~ Mimi's Ménagerie Avatars ~ http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons&misc

Oh good luck with that one! It is a stubborn file and even re installs itself as you remove it. Most likely you will have to look up how to do a manual fix of it. Did you happen to have a system restore point set to before you picked it up? If so, great! That is your best best, system restore and then scan again. Antimalware is good and will pick it up, but you may need something else along with it that gets rid of the file that re installs it. Normally most of the helps sites have something prepared. It is sneaky and copies itself somewhere else as you are removing it with a program. Anything you do, do while in safe mode. And yes I have used downloads from majorgeeks before without issue. another one is bleepingcomputer.com

Okay, I just finished running the program and it found 137 infected files! That means I had a total of 150 files infected. I am going to run again in Safe Mode now. I could not use safe mode before because the hateful boogers made my safe mode unable to get updates for my computer and virus programs and I could not access the internet either so I couldn't even see the help/support topics. GRRRRRRRRRR!!! Alright, is there anything I can/should do to see if my identity has been stolen? Check my credit history, bank accounts, etc. -- anything else? _____________________________________________________ ~ Mimi's Ménagerie Avatars ~ http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons&misc

Yes, you are right it replicates itself and makes a new file name each time you start windows. Thanks for responding!! Edit: I hope you finally got your computer issues fixed. I know you have had some major issues for a while now. From looking at the logs it appears to have started when a screensaver was downloaded. I am sure my kids did that a long time ago so there is no telling how long I have had some of this stuff on here! There were many different kinds of infections instead of just one or two viruses. _____________________________________________________ ~ Mimi's Ménagerie Avatars ~ http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons&misc

that bleepingcomputer.com I mentioned has something to run after you run anti-malware to help permanently remove and undo the rest of things it does to your computer. I had virtumonde and it did basically the same stuff. I did get rid of it once I sat down and took the time to do it manually. ;) Other than that I blew up my graphics card :P That was not a big deal as I needed an upgrade anyway and replaced it a couple of days later. I wouldnt think most of this stuff would steal your identity, as it exists to force you to look at the stupid websites/ads and porn and just generally be a nuisance. But yeah, if you were jam packed full of them and haven't used your free credit report for the year it cant hurt to look.
