Baffeled about what just "Ping"ed

My computer just sent a Ping to www.neomallers.com, told me I sent 32 bytes and got 32 bytes back. What's this supposed to be about?

lol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ping how do you know your pc did this? your pc will have many connections open without you knowing, why were you alerted to a ping?

Well that's confusing, but at least I know it didn't do anything that could be a problem.
