Might be a dumb question, but I'm curious
I just began to use the Portal today (for the first official time) :) I was submitting my shop front and then I went to "manage stock." Let's say I clicked on "Fire Fondue" (just an item in my db). Of course, the bottom changes to the whole "Buy at: _____ Sell at: _____ x1.5 ++ In stock: ____" etc. In the "Buy at," it says I should enter the price I bought it at since my profits would be based on this value. If I enter 2000 as the price I bought it at, and I sell it at 2850, the profit is 850. But what if the next time I go to restock Fire Fondue, I buy it at 2200 or 1900, not at 2000? I almost never end up restocking my items at the same price so do I have to keep on going back & changing the "Buy at" price so my profits can be accurate? I can imagine this process of going back to change the price becoming very hectic as I add more items to my shop stock. Do all the portal-users go through this or am I missing something?

Yep, pretty much everytime you restock an item, you should change the buy @ price to get accurate profits. If you dont care about accurate profits, dont bother :P Its not too too bad for myself, because I will go and mass buy an item (say a codestone). I might buy 100of that codestone, and I will put the average "Buy @" price. Now as I sell those 100 codestones, the buy@ price will never change. When I run out, I mass buy again, change price again, repeat :P If you only keep a couple of that item in your stock and you are rebuying it every couple of days, yea, sounds like it would be annoying, but I guess people do it :P

Yep that is what i do and it's not too bad. when you're restocking from out of stock items, just click that area, type in the new price, press enter and voila. No other legal means to do this though --------------------------------------------- Decorate your V2 Tent and supersize with Irisheyez Direct http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=irisheyez

I have the same problem as well. So to save myself the frustration I average out the price of the items. If one time I buy for 2200 and the next 1900 I just price that I bought the item for 2100 or something. I need more data to be precise.

I figured everyone must put multiples of a certain item in their SDB or average the "Buy at." price. Thanks for the replies! n_n I look forward to utilizing the Portal a lot more :)

Its not as tedious or time consuming as you'd think. When you are to the point of stocking from your out of stock list it is only an extra click or two.

it would be cool to have "bought price" and "wizard prices" in different boxes because I put the stable wiz prices in the comments T_T ------------------------------- See my new screenie petpage? If i did something like that, imagine the number of questions like "Wut's the difference between wiz price and bought price and wtf at so many boxes!!!!11" --------------------------------------------- Decorate your V2 Tent and supersize with Irisheyez Direct http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=irisheyez
