One source of this is forwards and chain letters. Someone who is infected would pick up all the email addresses in a forward and then send it off somewhere.
The other is entering your email in those scam places. Which means, ALL your people on your contact list gets "sold". I get those all the time. Some of my... well... "technically dumber" friends fall for scams such as who's blocking you, blah blah, enter their password and since i'm in their address book, yeah.
Which means,

Dmitri, that's not true, I had an msn that i could see who had me on their contact list and I had one that said if someone was online so you know they had you block
then both that user and you submitted your password to that site. Total invasion of privacy. This means the site itself tracks you. when you're online, you report to the server that you're online. The server uses this information and tells the other guy that you're online but since you dont see him despite his online status, conclusion = blocked

DAMNT!
My fiance added two of those people when I wasn't on, not knowing who they were, and now my computer is infected with at least three trojans and adware advertising, etc, that keeps giving me this message: Internet Explorer says: (which right there lets me know it's a virus, this is an IE free computer!) Would you like to see me on cam? Press the button below to see! (Press "OK" to continue, or "Cancel" to stay on the current page".
And then it also keeps trying to download movie.exe, coming from porn fury online . com (DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!)
And it's messing with my search function on the computer, so it keeps popping up every now and then.
And it's messing with my browser sometimes.
AND every time I try to run a scan, it says it can't on all my scanners (PC Doctor, AVG, CCleaner, Advanced SystemCare Professional, IOBit Scanner). The only one it lets me run is Malware Bytes Anti Mal-Ware, and even then it gets to 99% done, and my computer restarts! My computer has been having troubles lately of shutting down randomly, and I thought it was because it's an older laptop and the battery was overheating, so it was shutting down as a safeguard. But now EVERY TIME I scan, it's been doing it!
I downloaded Avira AntiVis Personal - Free Antivirus on the recommendation of a friend, I hope this catches the little bastard.
WHY do people who have nothing better to do create viruses to destroy other people's computers? It's effing RIDICULOUS.

Restart your computer and just before the windows logo popups, repeatedly press F8 and then choose safe mode (without networking)

Thanks for the heads up about the msn crap.. I have been wondering why I am getting so many random requests to add ppl.. I know I havnt given out the email so i just keep deny and blocking them. But everyday there is another one.
