Quantity vs variety
Hey, so I was thinking... My shop is size 510 now and I got 2 of each of the items I have, so that's like, over 1000 different items... Which gives me like 14 pages My question is: to keep on putting DIFFERENT items or to just stuff more of the ones that sell more? I mean, some of the items I sell could use a larger quantity since they sell 2 or more daily... But some just sit there, so should I go and buy more of those that sell more or just keep my 2 of each plan?

Depends. How long are you online? Can you replace those items easily? If they're selling faster than you can restock them, then you need a larger quantity.

~ May ~ Yeah, I think they are selling faster than I can restock.. I've been replacing them like twice a week and prolly losing lots of sales that way... *ponders* Maybe whatever I sense sells more than 2 / week I buy more.. Until I find a decent quantity (like green cy plushies and blue kacheeks... why people buy those, is out of my mind, but they buy lots of 1np worth plushies for 100np *shrugs*)

For me, I have a lot smaller shop and more time to restock but anything under 100 NP that I can't easily figure out when its been bought I have 5-10 of each in my shop at any given moment so therefore I know I'm not going to run out within the week when I check. http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=evilbluemunkeyz
~ May ~ Yeah, I think they are selling faster than I can restock..
In that case, you need more quantity than variety. Not many people will go to each page of your shop just to check what kind of items you have in there. WOW! Selling: Maps, Neggs, Stamps, Coins, Cards, ETC! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=1434sweet#p

For popular items I stock 20+. For semi-popular items maybe 5-10. And for items that hardly sell like 3 at a time. I cant look for snipes everytime it is way too much work :( ------------------------------- www.youtube.com/TKDJamesPakTKD Check out my Martial Arts samplers =)

Yes, but to play devil's advocate for a minute here. Let's say you buy 20 Baby Dmitri plushies at 4,500 nps. You decide to sell them for 4,800 nps. All of a sudden, some asshat comes along and undercuts you by 1k selling theirs at 3,800nps. You just basically screwed yourself out of 800 nps per item because now you're gonna have to lower your plushies to 3,700 just to get them to sell. I say the more variety the better. Don't go anything over 5 per item. Chad Chad's Bakery http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=desperately_yours

I even have 1 paint brush that stays 20k over and I sell 2-3 a week. http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=evilbluemunkeyz

Variety is very important, however not at the cost of best sellers being out of stock frequently. Best sellers should be bulked to whatever quantity needed to not sell out in between times when you stock, or to rarely sell out. Then when you have those items in that position it is a good time to vary stock. I don't care what anyone says :P category doesn't matter, the more variety the better. ___________ Kirsty aka "the sensitive one" Silverdragon siggy stealer Tasty tent seller
