this is what I get if its even 1 neopoint over the lowest
price.
Maybe it is because bold in your shop you have written:
Items priced by SSW at time of purchase. I restock on Saturdays and Sundays.
Maybe try not advertising that you are the cheapest on the SSW if you want to have prices 1NP plus over SSW.
Some interesting points have been raised here :)
Ok, my question I guess is how do you not feel guilty for overcharging for items???
No flaming please, just looking for opinions.
EDIT: I just cant betray my morals to do so, I feel so guilty if it's not cheap.

Walmart, K-Mart.You are making a wide variety of items available. It's a convenience and often the brand. (like apple)
Ohh and the classic water bottle example.
Water bottle from grocery store = $0.10 to $0.25
same watter bottle from amusement park= $3

Exactly, Saudor, in real life shops overcharge all the time. This is a simulation of a capitalist economy, albeit where a level playing field actually exists (unlike real life). So, in real life you have some shops who charge bargain prices, like warehouses and NQR (Not Quite Right if you don't know...) where the prices are very cheap, and also HomeBrands which are exactly the same product most of the time in a boring looking wrapper, much cheaper than the one with the pretty wrapper.
Other shops charge more, and people shop there for all sorts of reasons, like better service, better range, knowledge because of advertising, consistancy of product... etc.
If your morals stop you from charging higher prices for a great range, then I hope in real life you refuse to buy Brand Name clothes and food etc as it is the same thing.
You aren't ripping anyone off if you charge a higher price. Because you are providing something that much smaller shops can't/don't provide.
I don't know, I don't feel guilty. People who buy from my shop don't feel like they've been ripped off. In fact, most are pretty happy with their new items. :P I'm not forcing them to buy from me; they have plenty of other shops to choose from. And mall shops are much more convenient that normal shops.
Dmitri and elfdreaming have better reasons than me lol.

It's easy; that's the way the planet works. You buy the junk you want to sell at a low price, and for the "Work" of obtaining it you add money to the original price. If water was going for $A currently straight from the bottling plant, and you sent a truck to pick up X number of bottles, wouldn't you figure in the price of the hassle to do all this instead of sending your customers to the bottling plant to buy, thus adding money plus the $A (Since most bottling plants only sell in bulk so you'd have to buy a few hundred at a time, the figured in cost is part of the hassle of that too.)
Now I understand that this is far different from neopets in the sense that you need to buy X amount at a time and there's no gas fees, but that's the joy of online. Clicking to another shop to buy it first is considered as much a hassle in comparison as sending a truck down to pick up a load of water, and especially since you make NP by playing games and such overcharging by 1.5X or more is not something to fuss over.

Whats the point in feeling guilty? It's not like we lure them in there and say buy stuff or else!!!
It's a choice they make. I've found many of my returning customers (especially back when I did wearables) were perfectly aware I was overpriced. They just decided it was a reasonable markup for the wonderful selection of items provided.
