I need some advice

I currently stock collectables, but am thinking about changing to books. Should I? I would like to know now, because I don't want to waste lots of money on stock when I will change it anyway. Are books better sellers?? Do they make more profit?? Do more people buy them???

[font=verdana] YES SWITCH TO BOOKS. But the plan is same as collectables. Get bookmarked and people mass buy you out I believe. Collectables for customers who are lazy to SW but collect stamps or neodeck cards. Books for customers who are lazy to SW but want their pets to be smart. That's how I look at it. Books seem to be better sellers though from what I hear/see/read. I did books a really really long time ago (like probably more than five years ago haha), and from what I remember, it was a fun and profitable category back then. I also did collectibles for a short period of time and quickly switched to something else because I wasn't finding it fun OR profitable (the cards are boring to look at... haha). Some advice if you do books: you should have a couple store specials that you rotate and link to at the top of your shop, and you can make them themed. For Valentine's Day, you could have Blumaroo Love Stories for instance as one of them. I got a lot of sales that way. Books also make great gifts because of their fun titles that fit almost every occasion, so you can also market that plus. One more benefit to books - there are some VERY cheap books (like for less than 100NP) that you could make lots of profit on... So yeah, I definitely don't propose to be an expert on the categories in question, but I feel like there are more possibilities in books.

I have been doing Collectables for 21 months and it got me to mm in 12 months. They can be quite profitable... Books and Collectables are both categories that you cannot ignore SW buyers

Thanks everyone! Gues I will change to books! Check out Hik's collectables? http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=htieki

I never learned how to run a proper Book Shop. :P _______________________________________________ Bugsy's GUIDE to Effective SHOPKEEPING and MALLING: Version 3: Learn More About Hut Positioning http://www.neopets.com/~bugsy_lenny

I've been doing books for a few months (the only malling I've done so far). I still don't know how to run a proper book shop, but who cares, it's full of books and people buy them! I don't make much from the shop, but I enjoy having a shop with 2,000 books for sale in it anyway *lol*

.I'd do Collectables rather than Books though :P _______________________________________________ Bugsy's GUIDE to Effective SHOPKEEPING and MALLING: Version 3: Learn More About Hut Positioning http://www.neopets.com/~bugsy_lenny

I have a lot of experience with books and this is what I can tell you about it: Running a small bookshop is easy. You restock at the neopian bookshop. Books you buy there will give you an instant profit if you sell them low on the shop wizard. If you do a lot of restocking at this shop, you will end up with a few pages and a decent profit. Running an average sized bookshop is a little bit harder, but it will still not require too much of your time. It will require a bit more dedication though. You will restock normal books at the bookshop, just as you did before, but you will want to stock all water faerie quest books. These are 280 books you want to have in stock at all times. It's not easy to keep track of them (tip: use the portal or maybe excel if you can work with it), but it's a must have for a decent bookshop. If you are running a decent big bookshop, it's no easy task. You will want to have all water faerie quest items in stock and all buyable booktastic books. You will want a lot of pages (at least over 10). If your shop size is not that big (not MM) you'll only have 1 of most items in stock, since you need the room in your shop. It'll be a lot of work restocking, often 50-150 items a day or even more. You will get good profits, but it's a lot of work. Once your shop gets bigger, you can stock more of each item and you can even expand your shop stock more. (I now have 17 pages, aiming to have all(most) buyable books in stock soon). It's still a lot of work restocking, even if you restock 3-5 items of a book when it sells out. Summary: --> Small bookshop = good profits, not too much work, only good for small malls. --> average bookshop = better profits, more work, more dedication needed, good for size +-200 --> Decent Big Bookshops = Nice to great profits, lots of work if you are not yet a hugh shop, requires dedication!! ~~~~~~~ If you have a bigger bookshop with more pages of stock, you will often have costumers who buy a lot at once. I had one costumer yesterday who bought over 200 books for 1.5m in total. My best costumer ever bought over 600 books for about 5-6 million total. I'm not saying this happens a lot, but when it does happen, you can both laugh (for the profits) and cry (because you'll have a lot of work restocking!). If you want to grow your shop in size, and you are not extremely dedicated, I wouldn't advice this category. If you are dedicated, this is, in my opinion, a really nice category. Of course, I own a bookshop and I've not too much experience with many other categories. So my opinion maybe BIASed ;)
