Counter Start Dates?
Is there an easy way to see what date a counter was created? Is it possible to add a 'start date' to all counters? That's the basic question, and from there I could go crazy with more ideas nobody would want *lol* How much data is kept on the servers for the shop counters? The past week, like is displayed, and all data beyond a week old is purged? Since the counter and counter graph was never implemented in Portal, the online version seems the perfect place to do it, then Hits could be graphed along side sales and profits pretty easily (if you are going to have graphs eventually for the online version). I'll stop now, I really just cared about the date, and then I got going *lol*

haha too late for that. Detailed stats are kept on the server for 2 days total. Simple stats (the counter total for that date) are deleted after 7 days. But maybe it's possible to tweak it so the counter_history table doesnt get emptied. Either way, I'd have to modify the headers for it since it doesnt support it. And already with the current setup: Showing rows 0 - 29 (16,062 total, Query took 0.0005 sec) We're looking at at a SQL growth of roughly, 4000 entries per day, or 1.46 million per year. Figured that would cause some CPU issues with processing. Who knows. ----------------------------- Contrary to popular belief, the Irish and I are not married

-We're looking at at a SQL growth of roughly, 4000 entries per day, or 1.46 million per year. Figured that would cause some CPU issues with processing. Who knows.- I kinda figured that would be too much data, at least anything but the simple stats, but even that may be way too much too! Keeping the start dates shouldn't be bad though, it's only 1 entry per counter (of course, old counters would need an arbitrary date, if any). And users could reset the start date just by deleting their counter, and then making a new one :) -Dmitri, when did you add that #shoppers to the counter?- He added it last night, around 12:24AM :)
I wonder why these things keep breaking like this
This should be an indication that you don't want an Unmanaged host *lol* There's enough to deal with with your own site, if you had to deal with the servers too? Blech!

I think this new host changed my configurations =/ Since people do recommend error reporting to be turned off so i had to manually switch it back on. And i think managing servers, i can learn on the fly :p After all, i coded this site on-the-fly too. But the security is still rock solid since i created it based on information provided on a hacking site (A) ----------------------------- Contrary to popular belief, the Irish and I are not married
