It's an awful, tragic outcome to an already tragic event. A week of really no news and then a sudden second explosion :( I think it will take a long time for that community to rebuild, if it can.

I was hoping and praying that there would be some survivors but now that there has been a third explosion, its sad to say but I think its all over. There seems to be a lot of disasters going on & so many lives lost at the moment.

There have been an increase in mining incidents lately. Hopefully these freak accidents will stop, it is a pain to just have miserable headlines in the news all the time. Sorry to those who have lost people.

The experts were sure there were no survivors after the second explosion - I really don't think there will even be bodies to recover after the third. It's very, very sad indeed. Mining is just very dangerous work in general. Humans aren't built for working that far underground in such hostile environments.

Unfortunately the past mining accidents have not been accidents at all. After the tragedy happens it comes out in the news that the mine was plagued with violations and they weren't taken care of. I think these mining corporations ought to have some stiff penalties as the workers are paying the ultimate price for someone's greed and neglect. Not to mention if a mine was given a violation where is the followup. Like when the fire marshall comes in to inspect a business. If there is a fail or violation there is another inspection after that to ensure corrections have been made.

Unfortunately there's more too it than that - the actual mining inspectors here are very short staffed, nobody is really even going into that line of work, so there's not enough inspectors to really uphold anything solid, from what I heard. I think most of it is hearsay at this point though, it will be weeks before any real information is brought to light.
