It was probably one of those situations where the dev team swapped the filters over and didn't bother telling the community team about it until it was done. It happens a lot on game sites.
They do it at least once a year and I'm always baffled at the way people horribly whinge about it every time it happens. Surprise surprise, TNT did something without letting us know! Most of us aren't going to quit over them changing HTML filters, they know that.
I don't think it really has anything to do with management. I'm sure management have more important things to worry about.
Looks like Auctions are also not working at the moment as mine have been showing as closed for
over 3 hours now. I wanted to place some more up there before I go and checkout my eyelids but it looks like it aint gonna happen.

I got to laugh at the 67 minutes as I have been waiting around 10 hours for the auctions to complete so I can place more up.

It has entirely to do with 'management' the verb, not necessarily 'upper management' as in the noun like you're thinking. You're right, they know most people won't quit over those changes (in fact, we could probably count the number of people who will quit over that on one set of fingers and toes), BUT it's usually an indication of a larger problem. They've done other things even recently that should have been communicated to end users. I would more likely quit over 'a consistent neglect of interaction with users' than the filters themselves.
At the same time, I have no intention of quitting right now either, but I would certainly make my opinion known too.
